You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Wow, y'all are getting snow already? It's 77F here...
If you want to learn about the origins of this sort of thought about forcible bodily non-consensual conjugation, you could read the book "Idols of Perversity", specifically the chapter "The nymph with the broken back".
These attitudes are not new, they have been around since at least the nineteenth century.
Ugh, why in the world did I take that gender relations class. I learned far too much in that class.
Environmental science? Eh, it is and it isn't. Some labs are pretty good and I like the hands on approach. However, a lot of time, they get really tedious. Like, last lab where we spent the entire session looking up websites and putting in data. That was not too enjoyable.
Years ago it was a pretty common weeaboo ideal that because cartoon anime girls are always running around naked with vivid primary colors for hair, that Japan is a paragon of equality and totally not sexually repressed unlike the United States. I wouldn't be surprised if that mindset is still the norm

This is why it baffles me that people who are very much not weaboos (eg. Scythemantis, anyone remember him?) claim that Japan is some sort of ideal place to live.
Japan is kind of like Appalachia in that respect: It's a nice place to visit, but aside from a select few parts of the cities, you wouldn't want to live there, and for many of the same reasons ("inaccessibility" is a big one, since it makes everything expensive).

Yep. You can take just about every accusation some social crusader levels at the United States on a daily basis, and then see it happening right in front of you over in Japan. Women are still treated like chattel in the corporate environment, for instance. GLBT rights over there are a fucking joke. As for racism, the worst that the southeastern United States has to offer doesn't even come close to Japan as a whole, where "No Koreans Permitted" is slapped up on storefronts to this day. There's no laws even for protecting someone from racism who's seeking the most basic of things like housing, as my friend who just emigrated there found out.
And what's worse about all this is that most of the really big weeaboos only know what they do about Japan from anime, which is rarefied and filtered the same way Hollywood films were in their Golden Age (and to some extent still are). You're not going to see the ugly parts of Japanese culture in most of their media because, from what I've seen, it's something they just don't like talking about, and even if they do talk about it, it's often in metaphor.

Actually a good chunk of "serious" anime is devoted to condemning Japanese social problems. Welcome to the NHK is apparently a really good example, though I've never seen it.
I think if anything it's just a testament to how willfully ignorant some people are.
Lazuli: Yeah, ignorance goes a long way sometimes. I'm sure there's still lots of nerdy types that think Japan is one big theme park full of cute girls. :P
I haven't seen NHK myself, but I've heard it's quite disturbing.
Well it's not really a question of whether or not there are cute girls in Japan, it's more a question of whether or not they're interested in you (protip: they're not. Because you're not Japanese).
Anyway, I'm going back to bed now. I'll see you all later, I suppose.

The snow lasts until either late May or early June.
The good thing is that this is my last lab course I have to take to fulfill all my GER requirements.

This is how I now picture the devil.
