CA: Oh wow, that's kind of sad. :/

Also, I was just reading the Romance thread back over on TVT, and now I really want to know if anyone ever wrote Yukari/Nyamo slashfic. I know it exists -- it has to; the UST between those two could power all of Japan for a month -- but I've never gone looking for it.

And surprise surprise, MicrosoftWindows is on the Permanent Red Link Club now.

Fuck you too, Eddie, you motherfucker, I'm NEVER editing the wiki again. Take my hard work and trash it just because YOU PERSONALLY don't like Microsoft? Classy.

Indeed, the only reasons I have to even stay on TVT now is the PM conversations I've been having with ALly and the Heap.

squiddle: Well, playing with random OSes, writing code, stuff like that. But for the most part, I'm just being lazy and hanging out here and on TVT (and lurking on IJBM2).

Senile? Who knows. Out of touch? Definitely. It doesn't help that when Eddie does do something, he can be incredibly cryptic about it and won't talk about it at all "until it's done". Which is good, I suppose, from a software development standpoint, but it makes you look like an aloof dork when it comes to site policy. "This is no way to run a railroad!"

Also, it should be noted that there was a lot of stuff like this happening on Wikipedia for years until the Wikimedia Foundation hired actual lawyers and made a damned policy. Without proper ground rules, the admins and mods will interpret situations as they see fit, and it'll piss people off because the law isn't being applied consistently. But TVT resists this sort of thing because they're afraid of people doing things by fiat, or so I heard. WUT.

All I know is that I'm sick of it. Wikipedia, at least, had the common courtesy to take what I wrote for them and massage it into something acceptable and useful, especially important at a time (c. 2002-2008) when I tended to ramble even more than I do now. But TVT? "We're just going to delete this because Microsoft is Evil, sorry for not discussing this with you or anyone else, but IT MUST BE DONE!"

Now I know how the people who were upset over I Am Not Making This Up feel. I understand how pissed people were when the renaming requests started en masse. And I understand why people were so pissed about the Sonichu article, even though it did need cleaning up. It's all about policy and the proper application thereof, and it doesn't really seem like it's a big deal until it happens to you. :P

Let me tell you. About Fallen London.

     I don't see it listed.

It's fourth from the bottom, the reason given is "excessive level of trolling and complaining".

Which was true for the Microsoft article, but not for the MicrosoftWindows article (which was a historical article in the vein of the UNIX and MacOS articles, and had very little in the way of drama in it). It's obvious to me that Eddie deleted the latter without even reading it, simply because it had Microsoft in the title.

    I do too.

I finished my work for today, but tomorrow I will have to take the online final exam for Intro to Theater.

(I could've taken it today, but I am not up to an exam and it doesn't have to be done until Friday)

I keep thinking of SGC2C with Space Ghost replaced by Twilight Sparkle, Zorak replaced by Rainbow Dash, and Moltar replaced by Applejack.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
AU: Y'know, that'd actually work pretty well. Someone needs to write it!
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I was thinking of some version of the Cupcakes song where Pinkie Pie and Apple Bloom were replaced with Brak and Tansit, respectively.

    AU: Ah, I see.

It's coooold in here. I should put my comforter over me, that's what it's there for after all. :D

...why do I get cravings to watch the TV Guide Network? Why does Lionsgate even own it, they have no idea what to do with it.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
AU: What all are they doing with it right now? From the few times I've flipped past it on my FiOS, it seems like they specialize in running old Vestron movies. :P

It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't shamelessly trying to play off TV Guide's past glory, but then, very little in the business makes sense these days.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
They appear to subsist on running sitcom reruns not wanted by Lifetime/Oxygen/WE tv anymore.

...how much of Lionsgate's vast library is comprised of old B-movies, you think?

    Whats going on here?
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    Not much, at the moment.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
AU: From what I understand of their history, quite a bit. They own the old Vestron/LIVE/Artisan library outright (including distribution rights to a whole bunch of old Carolco movies), and one of Lionsgate's predecessors, CFP, holds the rights to a bunch of Canadian films including Meatballs

Mental note: Never forget to take your medicine. YOU WILL END UP FEELING LIKE TURD.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I keep wanting them to try and grab the Carolco movies away from StudioCanal/Vivendi. I don't know why, though.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I kind of want to buy Focus Features from Universal Pictures, but the last time there was talk of selling it they decided against it. They apparently like having it in their portfolio.

But I read some guy's comment about them selling it off making sense (because of their box-office woes), and because I am easily swayed I want to pretend to buy it.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Nah, forget about Focus. I wanna go back after Summit Entertainment.

In addition to Lionsgate, a firm named "Colony Capital" is going after them now too.

but then New Line Cinema fell into a hole containing the Daleks and would have died if not for the intervention of Warner Bros.

A phantom "US 180" has appeared in Downtown Columbus, according to Google Maps.

...I'm tempted to try and edit away the error, but the AARoads guys have horror stories about their edits getting rejected for stupid reasons.

Indeed. US 80 never even ran anywhere near this part of the country.

I tried editing the map to remove the US 180 designation, but I can't find an entry for it, so I'm assuming it's some kind of technical glitch.

Maybe buy a stake in Miramax.

For some reason I still associate Miramax with Disney.

The City of Columbus started using these all-in-one piece signs 10 years or so ago. The OH 3 assembly is an ODOT installation, I believe, which is why it is not in the same style:

^^Even when they were owned by Disney, they never seemed to fit. No wonder they got rid of it.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
CA: I've seen those types of signs here in Virginia before, but mainly around Richmond for some reason. Everywhere, and I mean everywhere else uses the standard modular signs.

Tno: I was actually reading one of Wikipedia's rogues galleries earlier, and it reminded me that while TVT has its flaws and Eddie has been doing dumb things recently, it could be worse. It could be a lot worse.

No one in particular: -insert not-entirely random gushing about Ally because talking to her is so much fun- XD

I'm off to bed now, good night!

Expanding ABC Inc would be tough.

Seeing as how Summit is at the center of a conflict between Lionsgate and Colony Capital, getting involved in that may be tough. Perhaps ABC Inc will go after some companies nobody else really wants.

Where is that? And why is the fire hydrant blue-and-white?

It's not my photo, but it's in Marion, Ohio and I have seen it in person before.

I don't know about the fire hydrant.

The sign is the worst part of that picture.

...I wonder if ClearviewHwy will gain favor with DOTs.

Quite a few states have adopted ClearviewHwy for new signage, so far.

Of course, the FHWA allows it only for use in positive contrast, so you don't see it on route shields or other negative-contrast applications.

I noticed it in Denver a month or two ago.
