So, there is pretty much no food I want to eat in the house.
My options are to wait until my mom gets home and hope she'll drive me to the store (uuuugh) or walk to the store myself (uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh).

Hi all.
Staying home sick today, even though I don't really want to. Don't really feel up to going to class, even if o feel like I should.

Sometimes I wonder which Rugrats character I'm most like
Then I remember that none of them are all that great

Rugrats and Ren and Stimpy formed one hell of a dichotomy whenever you consider they were released on the same day; one was creator-driven that the target demographic loved (Ren and Stimpy) and the other was something that suited exactly what the stick-up-the-ass network execs (and the bland parenting of that day) expected a "good" cartoon to be. Ugly character designs and just enough "wackyness" to make them think they're catering to kids' tastes without upsetting the exec's delicate sensibilities.
Then there was Doug. (That's all history has to say about Doug.)
Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.
I grew up with MGM cartoon before they got all censored to hell and back. I clearly remember Mammy Two-Shoes -- I think the censoring and replacing her with a white housewife that was done in the 60's or 70's was only used by major networks. On WTBS at its infancy, they played the cartoons more or less uncut, including the racist caricatures and the running "now I've seen everything, *pulls out gun and shoots self in head*" joke
And I can't lie, one thing me and my siblings saw on those cartoons (that could have killed one of us) we pulled in real life. Got my not-too-bright older brother to do it.

My mother actually forbid me from watching Ren and Stimpy as a kid, so I ended up growing up on the much blander cartoons like, well, Doug and Rugrats.
I wasn't allowed to watch anything Tom and Jerry-related either.

Well, going back to what I said before, that thing we mimicked off a cartoon that my brother did was off of Tom and Jerry.
In the cartoon, one cat put two live wires from an A/C socket into their ears and used their nose to dial radio stations. My older sister and I talked our older brother into seeing if that was really the case. Fortunately all it did was knock him back about two feet, and cold on the ground for about ten seconds.
I imagine that whenever the producers of these cartoons came up with these gags that they didn't think kids would be dumb enough to mimic them.
Hey CA, remember a while ago how you said that you oftentimes had a desire to "create" that was really vague and usually just ended up making you feel unsatisfied? Yeah, I'm feeling that right now.
Ever have one of those days that makes you wonder if you live in some absurdist comedy show?
Because I had one of those today. I was walking near the apartments downtown, and I heard a police siren, then a guy in a bathrobe stepped out of one of the apartments, exclaimed very loudly "Jesus Christ, not again!" and went back inside. And then a stray cat walked by.

oh wow
electrocution is a huge phobia of mine
I find it weird in retrospect that Mother let me watch The Simpsons. I guess it's got less of that imitable cartoon behavior, but it's not exactly something I would expect her to let a 3-year-old watch.

What the hell, universe?
Was it black? You might have missed the first cat...

I'm trying to think of other not-age-appropriate shows I watched as a kid...
I liked Daria, because I liked the main character, but being an autistic 7-year-old I really didn't understand much of the humor.

Maybe one of the other reasons parents wouldn't like the old Tom and Jerry cartoons would be the sound effects, which are best described as "excruciating" like when Tom runs smack into a door

Beavis & Butthead was apparently one of my favorite shows when I was very little. Funnily enough, I can't stand it now.
Somewhat later in life, that went to Ed, Edd, & Eddy. Which still holds up, imo.
I am on my laptop, and also working with my old, much smaller laptop trying to get stuff off of it.
yo dawg....

I think they call the specific coat of the one I saw "turtleshell". Might be wrong.
I'm trying to find one thing in particular.
Youtube.
No really, there's a bunch of episodes on Youtube. So's Ed Edd 'n Eddy in fact.
Actually, I have to disagree there. I really love the sound effects on the Deitch shorts. That was probably the best thing about them.
Of course I'm weird in that I like the Deitch shorts in general, they're just so weird, how could I not?
