Touch the cow. Do it now.
John Dillinger? He assassinated JFK. Or one of his five clones did
  • Dillinger was a bank robber during the great depression.

    Btw Justice,

Are you prepared for when your daughter becomes a teenager?
My machinations extend forever and both directions for all eternity, all is as it should be and as I have willed, even your question was only a minuscule piece in the much larger machine that is our destiny.

Anyone remember the time I decided to clean out redundant entries in the forum ban list?

It led to the Activity page being flooded with a bunch of messages "Central Avenue has unbanned [obvious spambot 1]", "Central Avenue has unbanned [obvious spambot 2]". It was hilarious, if a bit embarrassing.

That $45,000 Tengen Tetris proto has been confirmed for real but not unique, there's several of them floating around and dumped as rom images, from what Frank Cifaldi says.

So was it really a prototype intended to be submitted to Nintendo, or does it just look like a licensed Nintendo cartridge because they recycled an old Duck Hunt cart?

Yes, it was recycled to hold the proto. I'm not sure, but I think this was the most common way to ship protos and review copies around back in that day.

Also as an aside, the American version of Gyromite (which is very common) has famicom-converter-thingy built into the cart which allows you to fit famicom carts into American systems.

  • So, I just got back from that McDonald's after my computer's battery died, and now I've got maybe ten minutes to relax before I get dragged along to my stepdad's friends' house. Why? Because he needs (his words, seriously) to see his friends so he can play video games and watch bad movies with them. But I work tonight, and we only have one vehicle, so I have to go with him.

I'm sorry, I was under the impression that I was the teenager of the household, I guess that's not the case.

    Ah, Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The flaws in that show stand out because there are so very few of them.

Aangst is a flaw, but it was worked well into Aang's character development.  Zuko started out annoying but became a much better character, and the voice acting became a lot more emotive and less recap-ish.

It started out with a lot of dialogue that was basically characters describing what was happening; but I guess in the early days like that you can't afford ot have new watchers be confused about what's happening.

    Should I watch Kora?

So, having a discussion about upgrading some software on a server with a co-worker. Let's call him co-worker 1.

He doesn't want to upgrade a server, he states his reasoning, argument goes on and on with him and another co-worker (co-worker 2). I feel we're spending too much time discussing this as I think co-worker 1 has made his case, I attempt to push past this.

Co-worker 1 explodes at me, and we things get tense. Co-worker 2 manages to get things back on track to the topic at hand and we sort out what we need to.

I decided co-worker 1 and I need to have a chat, because there's no way he exploded at me just because I wanted to stop talking about this server especially when I agreed with him anyway.

So we chat, talk about different coding, standards, dredge up instances between us. We push past it all, say what we need to say, and It looks like he leaves and I go back and try to figure out how I need to brooch this topic with our mutual manager.

He actually comes back to work on something, and I decide to ask him about some reports I made because it sounds like he needs to rewrite them and I don't want him to have to do work that I could fix myself; I find out that it's additional requirements that have been passed down and also involves a portion of the project that only he's been working on.

I ask him to show my more of his portion because I haven't seen it. He shows it me, then proceeds to show me what he's working on now. In the interest of sharing I show him my current project and discuss some of the crazy and outlandish requirements that I somehow pulled together. We also talk our current projects, language barriers between Americans and Indians (they actually have it double-bad, here. Not only do they pick up English as a second language, they usually are taught British English given that's the type of English India was exposed to for the most part). We have a good time and (as far as I know) neither of us feels like the other-one needs a thrashing heart to heart with our manager.

Sorting out your own own co-worker problems without having to involve HR or a superior. It's a good thing.

One of the little things I've had swimming in the back of my head was "How many tank cars/trucks would it take to get 2 million gallons of something someplace?" With 33,000-gallon tank cars, it takes 61 of them; tank trucks are about half that size and would require well over 120.

I feel like I might have mentioned this before, but did you know that the guy who used to be Clyde Cash is now the guy who does This Troper?

I'm getting this from a guy on SA who claimed to be the former Jack Thaddeus. Also apparently Clyde is kind of obsessive and weird about things?

I'm assuming this about "Avatar: The Lat Airbender" and not "This Troper".

Not just I have anything against the former on the grounds I've never watched it, it's just...parsing. \\

The Last Airbender does stand up pretty well on rewatch. Also, it's easy to pick out little things like how Sooka is pretty sharp and quick on his feet in addition to being the brains of the group.

Don't you get time off soon?
  • I only work a maximum of three days a week (in theory anyway, sometimes they schedule me in such a way that I'm actually working 4-6 days at a time) and I have off tomorrow night and the night after. I just don't want to go because I'm being retrained cuz I....do stuff wrong, I guess.

    Indulging in obsessions

Heh, I've felt like that a lot lately too. It's kinda funny that I'm about to jump back into a recurring obsession that's taken a backseat for a few months.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    Which is?

Lately I feel obsessed with the Paper Mario games. This may have contributed to my crossover between it and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which is set in the latter's world but aside from Equestria has little fidelity to either source.

(Though really, Intelligent likes pushing the boundaries of what "is" Mario, it seems)

Speaking of Mario, I just made a level with a problem I can't seem to solve. :(

Pokémon, mainly because I'm getting White 2 in a couple days.

I'm also getting an urge to make characters and monster allies in the Final Fantasy d6 RPG just for fun. Naturally, it's all snakey and dragony since I've got my grubby hands all over it.

I'm curious about this crossover of yours, Anonus.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    Well...

The main villain is an omnicidal raccoon who watched too many TV newscasts and stewed in the dark energy that resulted. He has decided that all living things must be killed for the universe to truly be at peace.

But the only things that can stop him are the Elements of Harmony, which have been scattered across the MLP world. Mario got sent there when his microwave exploded, which also sent Luigi to the Toad Town DMV.

The mane six are also scattered across the land, due to the villain's knowledge of the Elements' power. Twilight is the first to join the party, filling the "Tattle" function that Goombario, Goombella, and Tippi previously had. Also keeping with established procedure, Applejack is the second to join, filling the same role as Kooper, Koops, and Thoreau.

I'm not sure of the order of the rest yet, but Pinkie fills the same role as Bombette, Bobbery and Boomer, Rainbow fills the same role as Parakarry, the baby Yoshi, and Peach, Rarity fills the same role as Watt, Flurrie and Fleep, and I'm not sure about Fluttershy.
