Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
I like what I've played of Zelda: Skyward Sword. I notice that a few people were disappointed in it after the hype died down, but I think I'll still enjoy it if I ever get around to finishing it.

But I am looking forward to the 3DS's games. Which ones catch your interest, Lazuli?
  • I have played no Wii games.
  • Ah.

I have a very low opinion of the Legend of Zelda series. I'm not going to elaborate further because it tends to lead to people attempting to convince me that I'm somehow wrong in not liking it.

Suffice it to say, that's not a draw for me.

It's got Pokemon, and honestly, that's about all it needs for me.

Of course. They haven't announced Generation VI yet, but there's a good chance they will sometime in the near future.

I take it you've seen the new Mystery Dungeon trailer?
  • I haven't, I actually mostly just meant B2/W2.

    *lazy*

The Pokémon games mostly bored me.  Crystal (the first proper game in the series I got) was fun for a while but then it started to feel repetitive.
  • Strangely the Pokemon games are probably the only JRPGs I don't find incrediboring.

I was never into Pokémon, never really into Zelda...sometimes I want to change the latter, though.

You could try Persona, or Disgaea, or Earthbound, or Chrono Trigger. :D

I don't really have the money nor interest to try those. Maybe sometime when I have a lot of spare time.

Actually, I lie, I've played the first Chrono Trigger, I hated it.

    Yeah, JRPGs and I.

    Not friends, generally.

  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Yeah, I'm not really a JRPG person.

Or an RPG person in general, really.  I've enjoyed D&D whenever I've played it with friends, but video game RPGs never seem to hold my interest.

Fouria and Lazuli: Fair enough. There's nothing as far as we know that can fit everyone's preferences.

On a similar but not really subject, I feel like I should be better at video games if I like to learn about them so much. Yet even with some games that require little coordination, I feel sorta clumsy.

I've played OOT, and bits of MM, WW and ST.

My enjoyment of Majora's Mask is hindered by the fact that the whole game is on a time limit.

You can go back in time whenever you like though.

Well, once you've completed the first section in Clock Town, anyway.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I know, but I was never stellar at that game and going back undoes things I need to do at the time.

If I ever actually get Majora's Mask (hopefully they'll make a 3DS remake), I'd love to try and do all the quests possible in the 3-day time limit. I'm probably not good enough at Zelda to do this, but still.

Speaking of 3DS Zelda remakes, I got the Ocarina of Time remake as a present, but I've never gotten around to playing it because I don't want to do the Volvagia fight. It's kind of a dumb reason, but the manga and fan theories ruined it for me.

    Why is that?

In the manga, Volvagia was a baby dragon that Link made best friends with before pulling out the Master Sword, and Ganon made her his slave in the seven years between Young Link and Adult Link's time. They made a kind of a big deal out of the fight being traumatic for Link.

The fan theory was that Volvagia was suffering from a mind-control parasite that drove her berserk, which isn't much better in the tragedy department.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for this kind of thing.

And that is why the I Know You Are In There Somewhere Fight is one of the most intense and heart-wrenching tropes out there.

Mr. Flosty: Plus, that second one was just an unconfirmed fan theory. That's nice to know.

Anyhow, it feels pretty good to be mostly caught up on homework for about a week now.

dunno how available this is over in your neck of the world, but right now I'm fixing louisiana-style beans and rice and cornbread for dinner, both from the dollar store

Sadly it's too late to buy stuff.  My choice is basically beans on toast or rice with boiled vegetables, or any more unorthodox combination of the above ingredients.

Oh I also have apples, cheese, milk and weetabix.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Gonna go with beans on toast, at least there's protein in that.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates on this

Not necessarily. Whereas I recognize faults in a person or work and am still okay with it, blind sheep would simply ignore those flaws. That said, if I had to choose an extreme, it would be that. But I tend to dislike extremism of any kind.

I meant the kind of person who always disagrees with everything for the sake of disagreeing.
