East of Columbus, SR 161 is a freeway in three parts: this section, built in the '60s (which actually still has one signalized at-grade intersection on an otherwise Interstate-quality highway); the New Albany bypass, built in the 1990s; and a freeway in Licking County that was only built in the past few years.
