The reason there's so much gaudy photoshop shit around nowadays is because everyone is a photoshop "expert" nowadays. I mean that damn near literally, too. That's why there's no real market for actual "graphic artists" anymore.
I have no desire to check out its forum, I get the feeling it's full of the sort of people who think that liking Halo is the same as wearing a dunce cap and that there haven't been any good games in 10/20/30/however many years.

Haha that's not true at all. The forum is filled with folks like Frank Cifaldi (Lost Levels) and Kurt, the fellow who set up the Castlevania Dungeon years ago and moved on go create HG101. I post there too, but only rarely and when it involves PC-Engine knowledge.
No, but most hardcore gaming forums are pretty similar and frankly even if I did like it I'd probably just forget about it in a week.
I suppose I shouldn't stereotype. Still though, I have other reasons.
I would like to find a good Transformers forum for one thing, but uh, yeah.

This means nothing to meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

As a "hardcore" fan of games myself, I really don't care to give my attention to whether or not the game someone likes is popular, and like (I believe) most such game fans, I occasionally will buy a more recent game. Personally, most of my favorite games are from the 1990s, but that is only me!
I didn't say you did.
There does seem to be this weird notion--at least, in my experience--of hardcore gamers to sort of think that video games today are either inherently worse or inherently easier. I don't really have an opinion on the latter (I don't think a game being difficult relates to its fun, it's about how it's difficult or easy that makes it good or bad), but I certainly disagree with the former.
Heh, the very first hit for "screw all y'all" on Google is sb_email 22. XD
Anyway, time for me to go to bed. Hopefully I'll be less pissy tomorrow; I had a meltdown earlier and got several dirty looks because of it. :P Good night!

I'm reading about OutRun, an old arcade driving game, and while it was apparently a racing game, there was also apparently a lot of appeal in just driving around in-between levels (this was a thing you could do on an arcade machine?)
I'm now thinking how a sort of car-based exploration game would go. Not something like Grand Theft Auto with missions and junk, just sort of driving and exploring. It'd have to be a low budget thing, of course, which is a problem.

So I just kind of puked out writing just now, it's a story about a game theorist (you know, the kind of guy who makes experimental chess variants as a hobby) named Micheal Poledraught and a thing that happens to him upon visiting Egypt.
I'm not sure where the story came from, honestly. It just kind of rushed up on me, half-finished as it is.
I hope that now that I've got the skeleton of the plot down, I can sleep on it and flesh it out a bit more when I wake up, because this is actually a genuinely okayish piece of writing. So I think, anyway.

Stumbling around Hardcore Gaming 101, came across the Panzer Dragoon series page.
I am a sad fanboy now.
It's gotta be a squiddly title.

It looks good to me, probably won't fit if you have it one line though, you'll have to put the "lava lamp" below the "glowwy-lookin' "huh

I seriously wanna know how Stig Sydtangen keeps getting voice work.
He is awful.

Also, the box for Super Mario World is a lie. There are 96 exits, but really only 76 levels.
