I find myself nostalgic for July and the roadtrip.
I think when I get home and get to an actual computer I will go look through the photos again.

I wish I could have done something fun.
Stupidly of me, Grandma offered to take me to Michigan, but I refused because the prospect of going without my mother was something that made me nervous. She says she'll ask again next summer.

Perhaps if you threaten to steal their "A" they'll give in. After all, who wants to be + E Networks?

Also if I buy Lionsgate I have no idea what to do with the TV Guide Network. They seem to want to retool it into a women's oriented channel, accomplishing this by airing reruns of sitcoms/dramas they got first dibs on the cable rights to/are too old for higher-profile channels to be interested in anymore. (They own the website that bears the "TV Guide" name too, having bought it with the channel; it focuses on pop-culture and Lionsgate is attempting to sell it now.)

Random nostalgia of the moment: The now-closed Toys-R-Us on Morse Road in Northland. I have a few vague memories of browsing the place in the mid-'90s (when it still had the rainbow-colored bars on the exterior), one of which involved some kind of Toy Story comic book.

...the closure of SOAPnet meaning most of the shows it owns the rights to will have no cable home is my impetus for mentally revisiting "Lively" or whatever its name is.
(The retooled LMN, intended as a rerun hub or something.)
The only Toys-R-Us I have nostalgic nostalgia for is one in Clifton Park, New York, and then it's only for a short time circa 1993. When they still had Super NES and Sega Genesis demo consoles up.
The sheer size of the Toys-R-Us stores used to really wow me, though.

I have a vague memory of being in a Toys-R-Us in the late '90s or so and seeing boxed PlayStations (the original ones) stacked up very high. As we passed by my mother jokingly said, "want a PlayStation?" Then we realized that the boxes were fake: it was actually one large box printed to look like a stack of PlayStation boxes.
When it comes down to it, the only retail-type place I have major nostalgia for is the mall my family used to go to when I was a kid. The one with the layout that made absolutely no sense, thereby endearing it to me but (probably) sealing its eventual doom.
Hard to explain. It was first built sometime in the 70s, I think, but in later years there were new sections added on. This gave it kind of a random, patched-together feel, without any sense of overall plan. Although, to be fair, the sense of maze-like randomness was probably enhanced by my being a child at the time.

So as I was driving home this afternoon, the radio traffic report mentioned an intersection where the lights for all four directions were green at once.
The mere thought of that scares the crap out of me, ugh.

Malfunctioning controller, presumably. Thankfully Columbus PD seems very good about getting officers out quickly to direct traffic at broken signals.
...You know I saw a video a few months ago of a malfunctioning signal in Cleveland that cycled through green, yellow, and red all within one second. Let me see if I can find it.

It's like Christmas lights, only with a greater chance of causing car wrecks!

...you know, if I were to buy Lionsgate, my first order of business would be to direct them to broaden their offerings beyond their traditional mainly comedy/action/horror mix.

I wasn't going to include an exit number, originally, but since the sign was so narrow I wanted to experiment with a full-width exit tab.
Also I meant to make "HAM" blue, but I forgot before I exported the PNG.

US 50 in southeast Ohio has a lot of signs like this one:
They resemble freeway signs, but US 50 isn't a freeway through here...rather, it's a four-lane divided highway, and these signs indicate not grade-separated interchanges but regular at-grade intersections.
Weirdly, most of the roads that cross US 50 between Athens and Belpre don't have actual names, just "Country Road [number]" or "Township Road [number]".

...her presentation of a jukebox as an "iPod" which plays "classical music" made me think of the Futurama gag in which Leela said "Baby Got Back" was classical music.

So I've been listening to Christmas music this week. It calms me down and reminds me that there is still a long break ahead if I can just get through these next three weeks.
But now it's reminding me of going shopping for Christmas decorations at a certain Kmart when I was a child, but I can't remember which Kmart it was and now that's driving me CRAZY
I'll admit, when the lack of a period was pointed out, adding a question mark instead was my first thought. I didn't do it, but it looks like someone else did...

I was thinking.
ABC Inc, Hasbro, Sesame Workshop, and the BBC should team up to involve The Hub in some kind of educational venture. (I was thinking about literacy when I had this thought.)

Oh come on, I explained this weeks ago!
...No, you know what, we should host a kids' show on PBS instead. The show will open with some kind of "mystery", then we'll challenge the viewers to figure out how it's done, then spend most of the episode showing little clips that could help them figure it out. At the end of the show we return to the first story to reveal how it's done.
So, like, we could do an episode on perception. We'd start by going out to one of the so-called "gravity hills" and letting your car roll "uphill". Then we're like "Can you figure out how we made Gold's car defy gravity? We'll tell you at the end of the show."
We then present several little segments on perception, including one on the Ames Room. At the end of the show, we're like "So, did you figure out how we made Gold's car roll uphill at the top of the show? If you said magic--well, you kinda missed the point of this show. But if you said the car didn't roll uphill, you're right! You see, this road is actually angled downhill. But the way these trees and telephone poles are angled, it gives the illusion of being angled uphill! It's not camera tricks--it looks that way in real life, too! So because of your perception..."

Oh right.
...there should be a TV show devoted to the construction and demonstration of Rube Goldberg devices. They have ones devoted to blowing things up, why not Rube Goldberg devices?

I wonder how much control ABC Inc can exert over A+E Networks. I have thought of trying to buy Lifetime outright.

Also, why is the "last living human" from "The End of the World" the weirdest thing I've seen in it so far?
