@traffic light copypasta: i noticed a while back that i tend to pay more attention to the position of a light than its color. I'm like "oh, the top one is lit, that means stop."
It was a bit strange when i first started regularly doing night driving, because that redundancy is taken away--it's too dark to see the unit itself, so you have to judge by color alone. It kinda manages to compensate for this, though, in that the color appears brighter and more intense against the night sky.

You know, I imagine if I'd lived in the 1930s I would have opposed the standardization of "red on top, green on bottom" because it meant no more three-bulb, four-way signals.
I mean come on, you'd have to have 12 bulbs at each intersection; that's way more expensive!

The early ask pdp art was surprisingly not all that great.
It's a pity, I like most of the ask pdp stuff, but crookedtrees/casseterecorder's current style is a bit to detailed/uncanny valley-ish for my tastes.
