I tend to agree with that line of thinking, but certain groups just make me... uncomfortable. I dunno, I'm just not in a good mood today, and I have this annoying thing where I do anything I can to preserve a bad mood.

Look at it this way. Once you get to the school, you won't be seeing groups. You'll be seeing kids. Sure, some of those kids will be jerks. All schools have jerks. Sure, many of them are probably sports fans, which doesn't mesh with you. But there will be other humans there, humans who will see a new kid who's probably miserable and sympathize with him.

I know this isn't enough, but it's all I can give you.

I'm just sick of political ads in general, from both candidates and their cronies (though I've been seeing more Super PAC ads than anything else, and they can go straight to Hell). At least on the DVR, you can just fast-forward through them...

Have you tried another browser? Firefox isn't very good anymore.

I would also like to pretend that, Frosty.  I would like to pretend that politics in general don't exist.

I really wish I could fall asleep, but I can't, no matter how tired I am.
  • I have seen no political ads at all! :D

Except some I watched while taking a survey.
  • Firefox works fine for me.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
What's wrong with Firefox? I'm still using it.

I use Firefox, but mostly for aesthetic reasons.  It might not be the strongest browser, but it's very reliable and you can customize it exactly to your liking.  It feels much more like my individual browser than anything else would.

That and Google Chrome does not work on La Computadora.

At least now, it seems very sluggish to me.

The most popular browser right now is Chrome.

    No, Internet Explorer is.

    I thought Chrome overtook it...

    ugh, must have remembered wrong

anyway, if you're looking for a Firefox alternative, try that, maybe? (I put off trying it for the longest time out of a distrust for Google, though.)
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Google irritates me on a fairly regular basis, which makes me reluctant to adopt Chrome as my main browser.

Firefox seems OK to me, and I'd rather keep my add-ons anyway.

  • I think the worst part of me leaving my old school is that with me only getting a day's notice, I only had the time to tell like, two people. And I won't be telling anyone else anytime soon because God forbid my mother let me use my phone or computer or anything when I need it.
  • I want to be a semiotician.
  • I'm a loser. Also, Creeper. And a woman.
Only thing FireFox gives me is more add-ons.

However, Chrome is easily compatible with more stuff I use. YouTube, easily linking other computers for Favorites, etc. I like it.

IE isn't bad, but kind of slow still.

I mean, Umberto Eco writes books, but that doesn't really have anything to do with semiotics really.

  • 2.2 ELEMENTARY SEMIOTICS AND TRAFFIC SIGNALS

As in any other discipline, semiotics reveals the complexity of
phenomena that seem simple on the surface. Traffic signals are an
example of a simple semiotic system that is far more complex than it
seems. We are speaking here of standard traffic signals, not of all the
    many variations in existence.

    2.2.1 SIGNIFIERS

The three main signifiers for traffic signals are colours: green, yellow and red. These signifiers use only one of the five sensory channels, that is, only one of the five senses – sight. (This is not the case with olfactory signs, for example.)

Within a single system of signs, signifiers must follow the principle of providing an adequate safety margin – and we are not talking about road safety. For example, traffic signals could in theory use these three colours: dark green, medium green and light green. It is easy to see that the lower safety margin between the signifiers would also decrease safety on the road.

    2.2.2 REDUNDANCY AND NOISE

The colours in traffic signals are often associated (or
correlated) with other kinds of visual signifiers (which correlate to
the same signifieds as the colours), for example, shapes (rectangle + red, circle + green, etc.), and positions (top, middle, bottom or left, middle, right). This correlation produces redundancy,
which is the process of repeating one signified, either by associating
it with several different signifiers or by repeating the sign in which
it is conveyed. The purpose of redundancy is to counteract what is
called noise in information theory, meaning that which impedes or could impede in transmitting or correctly interpreting (receiving) the message that was produced during the act of sending.
The purpose of redundancy is to ensure that the receiver (the driver or
the pedestrian) can perceive the sign with no problem, even when the
circumstances are unfavourable (glare, colour blindness, distraction,
etc.). For instance, why does a telephone ring several times when once
would suffice? To ensure that at least one of the repeated signs is
    perceived.
