Pfft, the BSD Daemon can kick that Gnu's ass
Fun fact: this version of the daemon was drawn by none other than John Lasseter of Pixar fame.

For some reason I have mixed feelings about tablets.
On one hand, it seems like it's just a smartphone made less useful by being bigger and more cumbersome. It's not exactly something you stick in your pocket and carry with you at all times--I have a smartphone for that.
On the other hand...it's kinda something my 6-year-old self would have thought was from the year 3000. It's a full computer, more or less, that fits into something the size of a book. Instead of taking a book to bed with me, I can get the ebook, then have that in bed with me alongside a full web browser, videos, music, podcasts, etc...

I got out of the relationship December 2011, but from Jan - May this year... He was determined to get back with me, and pinned the break up blame on me, when it was his fault I dumped him.
*sigh*
And now people are trying to talk to me, when I clearly want to be left alone.
It turns out that you can't multiply fifths to make an octave.
What's up with that?
The difference between fifty-three perfect (3:2) fifths is within two cents (1/50 of a semitone) of the nearest power of two. That's where the principle behind 53-tone equal temperament comes from.
Another fun fact about tuning: The way that the upper partials of Thai classical instruments mix naturally produces a scale extremely similar to that obtained by dividing the octave into seven equal parts.
Well, it's more one person who yells "MORNING" at me despite the fact that I am plugged into my iPod and not paying attention to the outside world, and then gets all huffy when I don't respond.
I know this sounds bitchy, but if you really want to say "morning" or even "hello" to me, lightly tap me on the shoulder and say it gently. Is it too much to bloody ask for?!

I decided to look at the original Heap a couple days ago...it seems to be dying a slow and painful death. It seems like nowadays it takes 3 days to get through a single page; at the height of its popularity we were burning through like 10 pages in a night.
It's because everyone left or got banned and now all the new people feel unwelcome because of people like me grumbling about how the heap isn't what it used to be.

Part of me still longs for the simpler days of late 2010, when we treated the place as an echochamber for nonsense, or the fun days of early 2011, when the place became a hangout of sorts and general discussion went on there.
I admit that for a while I had the mentality of treating it as a "club"; for a long time it had only a few regular posters so I kinda developed a sense of ownership over it, as if it "belonged" to us.

I kinda want to read this book now, but I don't know if it would be of much use to me as I wasn't raised as a girl and I'm not currently presenting as female. :\

Gee, I wonder if I should buy the new or used copy of this movie...
I helped an out an old lady outside the Eurospar by buying a Big Issue. She wished me a good day and said she liked my hair, as it was lovely. I wished her a good day too.
I should have offered her some of my potato wedges.
I find that I love helping out people more disadvantaged than me, especially old people. It's like a drug to me. I love the feeling I get when I help out.

Like I had three crying fits yesterday... Whoops.
Second one was when I told my GS teacher (who is a part time therapist) about my online abusive relationship.
Third one was when I saw a giant spider in my room.
*continuing with the huggings*

Interesting thing to note: According to this chart, by and large, alto/baritone sax players are insane.
It's weird being Old Guard. But that's what I feel like when I'm on the Paleoheap.
^I wouldn't say so.
It's especially weird that nowadays I think I'm the only one here who actually still frequents it.
It seems like most threads are dying now...
Anyhoo, got to skedaddle. Assembly soon (ugh) and then supervised study. I'll be back afterwards :)
*hugs all*
See you.
Break time.
The teacher I talked to (the one who is a part time therapist) gave me this book called Aspergirls. I was reading it during my study period :3
I am the Old Guard! The lost, the damned, the ancient! I've seen things you'll never know! Forgotten more than you'll ever learn!
Don't talk about no "Old Guard," whipper-snapper. *grumble grumble*

two lovers sat on a park bench
with their bodies touching each other
holding hands in the moonlight
there was silence between them
so profound was their love for each other
they needed no words to express it
and so they sat in silence on a park bench
with their bodies touching
holding hands in the moonlight
finally she spoke
"do you love me, john?" she asked
"you know i love you, darling" he replied
"i love you more than tongue can tell
you are the light of my life
my sun, moon, and stars
you are my everything
without you, i have no reason for being"
again, there was silence
as the two lovers sat on a park bench
their bodies touching
holding hands in the moonlight
once more, she spoke
"how much do you love me, john?" she asked
he answered, "how much do i love you?
count the stars in the sky
measure the waters of the oceans with a teaspoon
number the grains of sand on the seashore
impossible, you say?"
