Oh, derp, I was thinking sitcoms specifically, so All That went straight over my head.

It's funny, I live in a part of America where carbonated beverages are "pop", but my family calls it "soda" because that's what my mother called it growing up in California.

(nobody's around now but eventually someone will reply to this)
I kinda want to write about a town where weird shit happens, but I feel like this idea has been done to death--hell, look at my current avatar--so I'm wondering what I could add to it that would distinguish mine from the other stories in that category.
Had to work Nature's Market today, which technically isn't even our department, and ye gods, that place is where organizational logic goes to die. Chocolate syrup, homeopathic medicine (?!?!) and pizza are in the same aisle.

Well, I'd tell you to set it in an alternate universe, but I'm doing that for my webmanga if I ever learn to draw well enough to make one.
Well, Stuck has teen romance and the ensemble cast, Gravity Falls has the twin aspect, Regular Show is ostensibly an office comedy interspersed with weird, and Scott Pilgrim goes on video game rules.
What about a town that has specifically scheduled times for weird to occur? I don't think I've seen one like that.
Like, it could be about a new person there, and they've got to deal with both being a fish out of water in the town and the town's daily oddities or something.

See, what I had so far is that the place would be called "Shipton Township" (mainly because I wanted to use "Township" to evoke the midwestern US) and the action would be centered around the middle school.
I had two ideas for characters. One is taken from my character in "Twelve Year Old Kidz Klub"--a kid who died but hangs around the school anyway as a ghost because she's got nothing better to do. The other is a kid named Hannah Barbera, who believes real life is a cartoon (albeit a poorly drawn one) and attempts to set up cartoon-like scenarios in real life.

See, I was thinking the whole thing would be built around a bunch of quirky little characters like that, but I don't know if I could pull it off. >_>
Liefeld's drawings are hilarious! :D ...you would think a professional comics artist would know how to draw a human figure?
Rob Liefeld broke into comics in the early 90's and due to his very young age and interest in the books he drew the art for, he was something of a superstar for it. As in, he actually was pretty mainstream and even got his own commercial hawking Levi's jeans. This was the start of the 90's superhero glut which spawned Image (Liefeld the first artist there) and people buying comics because of who drew them, not because of the comics themselves. Because of this, these guys ran unchecked and unedited because they were basically printing money for themselves at the time with Liefeld being the worst about it -- full of his own hubris. And who would dare tell a superstar that some really amateur anatomical errors are creeping into their work?
It took Rob (as it takes many flash-in-the-pan DA superstars) a while to learn that it doesn't take someone of their skill level to point out a glaring mistake. Anyone can tell that a shoddy artwork is a shoddy artwork. From what I understand, he's pretty much cleaned up his stuff and moved past what everyone spent a few years roasting him over. As for that picture above, someone extended the legs, but that waist is all Liefeld.

I've seen his most recent stuff.
He still is very bad at perspective, consistency, really likes big muscles, scowls, and hates motion or backgrounds.
Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.
I've always found it peculiar that Rob continues to get dumped on while Fred, over at Megatokyo gets a free pass. As far as comics go, Fred's take on anatomy makes Rob's look like the Vitruvian Man.
Because Rob has been a professional in his field for almost (over? I don't know when he started) twenty years. Fred might make money off of Megatokyo now, but it's still something he started as a hobby.
Basically the former would imply that the person had some training in his field, not so much the latter.

Fred's been at this since 1999, though. That makes what, about 13 years now? Liefeld's big breakout in comics was around 1990. Also, Fred making money off his comic isn't a new thing. Hell, if "professional in a field" is gauged by how well a person brings in cash money for their work, then aside from PA, Fred is peerless. The very first time he dropped one of his pencil scribbles on Ebay it landed well over $2,000.
I find it particularly odd how people who don't even read his comic will make justifications for his utter stagnation, as if he's some lonely outsider just trying to get his meager work to an audience. That couldn't be further from the truth. He may not be able to draw for shit but he knows how to keep the money rolling in. That sounds pretty "pro" to me.
