A few years ago I saw some news report where at some high school there was this group of kids that took this identity stuff with them to class every day. They'd stand around and howl and bark in their little group while everyone was laughing and pointing while they were padding themselves with the whole tired "laugh at me because I'm different/laugh at you because you're all the same" mantra. This eventually got a curious local news station to go take a look. Some months later one of the kids in the group committed suicide. Gee, I wonder why.

There's a difference between being expressive (even in an unusual manner) and flat-out aberrant idiotic behavior. What I find troublesome isn't so much these people going off the deep end thinking they're cissexual fat-positive warrior caterpillars from Mars, but the people who not only enable but rush in screaming "TOLERANCE!" to defend this mode of thinking as if there's something positive that could possibly come from it. This shit is far, far displaced from any issues that people are dealing with in reality.

Also there was not a sizable otherkin community on TvT when I last went there. The only otherkin I know of who ever used the forums was Dark Lady Celebrian, who was quite sociable despite her weirdness.

edit: Though technically DLC was a soulbonder, I'm not sure if that's the same thing or not.

Yes, but there's a point where this kind of thing stops being harmlessly eccentric and can transition to mildly harmful to even self-destructive. That's when a responsible person steps in and tells this person that wearing dog ears and tails around campus and growling at people is not conducive to gainful employment or anything else for that matter. That's simply someone realtalking the truth, and the truth hurts. However, this is a mild sting compared to how the real world would handle this.

I wasn't really talking about that, more just the people who talk about it online.
I think that the people who dress up and such are probably in a minority, but I agree that at that point you've gone beyond simply believing something silly.

but yeah it is absolutely the most haunted house-looking house ive ever seen. people have tried to get in multiple times (if you dont break a window or anything it's only a civil offence rather than a criminal one) but so far as i know nobodys managed it. there must be a way...
