Oh this too. :D The origination of the "don't tase me bro" quote. Police sure do love electrocuting defenseless criminals they are restraining don't they?
No. They're actually quite isolated. If they were common, they wouldn't rate a separate wikipedia article for each incident

On a general note, people have very, very unrealistic expectations of the police and how they should perform their jobs. An recent example I can think of was some outrage over the cops laying down fire on a suspect and killing him. Said suspect was armed himself and rushing towards the cops, but this didn't matter a wit to the civilians criticizing what happened. They stated that the cop could have "easily" shot the guy in the shins and kept him alive yadda yadda. They forget that real life isn't Terminator 2, and also handguns are not as deadly accurate as they are in a video game. The average person (myself included) would have severe troubles hitting even close to the bullseye on a target even 7 meters away. Then there's a world of difference between what's going on at a shooting range and at an incident where some crazy asshole armed with a gun is rushing at you. You're not going to be your cool collected self. You're going to react in the heat of the moment because there's now the element of fear and adrenaline.
Mind you I'm not excusing the behavior of what happened here but you have to understand whenever there's a throwdown or a struggle, it's hard to be perfectly calm and impossible to employ perfect judgment when you have to handle a potential threat.

One uncomfortable truth I have observed over time is that most bloggers really don't want "to interact with readers". What they appear to really want is to be admired, to be praised and to see their opinions echoed back to them. The primary reason they permit comments in the first place is because comments serve as a metric of both status and success; one of the hallmarks of a successful blog is a plethora of comments following every post.
Forsythe: Yup. If you see someone banning or deleting comments for not agreeing in lock-step with the OP, then yeah, the blogger is a total attention whore. There used to be a lot of people like that on LJ back in the day.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Actually I think comments like "omg ur so great!1!!" are completely useless. I would rather know *why* they think I am great (for a good reason), or if I am not great, why I am not great. : )
Reminds me of when AU and I were first talking about becoming a couple. Whenever we mentioned it on a public forum, we'd get a load of "aww you two are so cute" but rarely any actual advice. >_>

I don't even remember the last time I updated any of my blogs. I guess this really only applies to "big name" (as big a name as one can have in such a field) bloggers anyway, though.
Also, I have returned from work. One more night and then glorious weekend. Also I get out earlier than I usually do tonight.
I'll respond to this just because I'm one of those people who loathes Fox News. That article is harmless and would be on any news site, but note that it's in the leisure section. Most people only have problems with their politics.
I've had the unfortunate experience of seeing Fox pretty often, my mom used to watch it a lot and I think it's one of the reasons I was so stupidly conservative (emphasis more on the former) when I was younger.
Also, one of the folks who works in the wokery in our store apparently decided to name his daughter Korra. Not sure if the reference is intentional or not, but I was reminded of Justice and baby Lain.

You have to keep in mind, though, that Fox News is simply pandering to a demographic -- just like CNN and MSNBC are doing. They all have the same goal: to make money. The people who are up at the top of each of these news networks don't care a wit about politics, just about making money. All Fox News did was fill a gap in cable news. Whenever I see people bitch about "Faux News" or bitching about how liberal MSNBC or CNN are, I wonder how these people can look down their viewers while playing into whatever their competitors want.
Fox News has a very tenuous relationship with reality. Now, I have never seen MSNBC, and I've only seen snatches of CNN, so I can't compare the three, but given Fox's flagrant disregard for truth and ethics I'd find it difficult to believe that any other news source approaches it's level of utter all around suckitude.

As a conservative myself, I could say the same thing about CNN and MSNBC. Network news in America has become polarized in response to the populace becoming polarized. In regard to that, I don't think Fox News is any more or less heinous than the other networks.
Another tragic crash. Worst of all these could easily be prevented. If we banned the private ownership of cars and only allowed public transport by government drivers, this wouldn't be happening. Of course, conservatives won't let that happen. Just another example of how Republicans have no remorse for the blood on their hands.

i'll talk about it tomorrow.

You non-Americans, buzz off
At least I hope so.
of the three, CNN is closest to earth, but they apparently plan to change that by being more "opinionated". I dunno.
Anyway, naptime, as Super Lazuli is Supersleepy.
