^ Yeah, those overpriced calculators are annoying. Math isn't for everyone, just like how some people are dyslexic and need help reading, some people have trouble with math and need calculators.
@Lumine: As are many "Answers" related websites. ...Often enough, anyway.
And yeah, the Texas instruments are probably overpriced. As for textbooks, best thing I can think of is so the Teachers/Staff get decent pay.(not sure if they get poor pay at College, though)
Doesn't justify overpriced stuff, but does give a reason.
Now, the real question is; If they went digital instead, I.E. downloads only(and of course, provided either a cheap netbook, like 30 bucks max?), they could possibly save a lot more money. And of course, it's entirely possible that the netbook could be given back, much like with a user car agreement type deal.
Not sure if it would help with the pricing overall, though. There is the matter of more electricity needed. But I know some Colleges supply them too.(and even some High Schools use them for each student) It's not that common in real life compared to fiction, but it still exists.
...and yes, I mean cheap netbooks that aren't heavy on memory or hyper fast.(outside of the connection) Just what you need.
I don't think it's a matter of misogyny, which is a term thrown around far too often these days (Ted Bundy was a misogynist. Crying about ... whatever MRA-types cry about does not a misogynist make.) It seems to me that MRA is just guys wanting to get a slice of this whole poor-oppressed-me/victim pie except they have nothing to be oppressed about. Parental custody seems to be the biggest and only thing they bring to the table, and most of the time that is due to a measure of irresponsibility on their part.
Well, there are men's rights people, which okay, understandable on some level, and then there are people who think that women secretly rule the world with scent pheromones they emit from their vaginas. I'm not making that up, people seriously believe this shit.
I am not on reddit enough to know which kind hang out there. A mix, likely.
Well, why can't schools just print money to pay the teachers?
Why can't education have infinite funding?
Do you seriously know that little about economics that you genuinely don't understand this, or are these rhetorical questions?
Today in British lit class we did groups for a blog thingy. The girl I'm working with is pretty cool (into nerdy stuff, likes literature and not just slogging through the course). The only problem is she's a bit too like me and is kind of shy.
Blergh. I wish making friends wasn't so difficult for me. It feels like forever since I've actively been trying to befriend someone. :/ And I forgot how daunting it is.
bjdkfgjruikedodkligfujredifocvfgrtrieslwoxpcvg my ds is broken
But I can't complain about it to my mom because I was *technically* grounded from it. But she was the one who broke it, unknowingly, so I don't know who I should be mad at.
Huh thats curious that there is such a thing as "British Lit".
It's the same thing as regular literature but they ramp up the difficulty exponentially by adding u's to words like "color" and "rumor" and for AP British literature you have to pay for your tuition with a "cheque"
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Today, I spent a little over five minutes watching a caterpillar awkwardly roll around on a sidewalk while ants went to investigate. I offered my finger to carry it over to the grass several times, but my offer was rejected. I kinda hope it's doing okay.

I would've done that, but I don't think I could've gotten my finger to fit underneath there without severely injuring the caterpillar.

Lumine, I'm pretty darn sure that's illegal.
Glencoe.
They should not be.
Are GLENCOE textbooks those awful ones they make in Texas, the ones sponsored by Creationists and anti-intellectuals?
Not like "Creationist" inaccurate, "You could get more accurate information from Yahoo Answers" level inaccurate.
Why would anyone use Yahoo Answers?

How could anyone do something so depraved and vile as to do research via a search engine?
Fun Fact: Textbooks cost roughly 50 cents more for every piece of clip art / stock photo in there.

I broke my GBA SP once when I threw it across the room following an argument with my sister.
I can't remember a game more fun than that. it's not like it was the best game I've ever played, but it's really memorable for some reason.
this guy is inordinately proud of his cactus.
