How can you hate Castlevania II
It probably has the most beloved music of the entire series, going from the recent Japanese poll that rated "silence of the daylight" and "bloody tears" right up there with Ducktales' Moon Theme and Dr Wily's Stage 2 MM2
Also the Americans got the even better version of the game because they added sound samples to enhance the music even more
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Well after Castlevania, that guy warned us not to return.

Didn't Bloody Tears debut in Haunted Castle though?
Which appropriately enough is another game that nobody likes.

I think you're right, that is where it debuted. I'm not entirely sure though.
Also as a kid we had a Haunted Castle machine at the YMCA. If you hit the jump button in succession after dying, it would give a free game. As a kid that was awesome, even if the game was flat-out impossible and even difficult using an invincibility cheat in MAME.
I am having the clumsiest week ever. I made an ass of myself at lecture when my desk decided to close just because I wanted to cross my legs. Then, I spilled a bunch of olive oil in the hallway and burned myself trying to drain noodles. I'm surprised I haven't accidentally burned down the chemistry lab yet. (Though, I probably look like a huge ditz to my boss)

Ouch, sorry about that. I hate it when stuff like that happens.
Though olive oil and noodles in the chemistry lab makes me curious. What were they intending to do with them? Obviously not eat them...
Ohnono. These were two separate incidents. Should have made that clearer. I was just cooking for myself with the oil and noodles.
No, at lab I couldn't remember how to fill out the stupid timecard and didn't realize I needed to take a cart with supplies. And I broke a beaker (though, at the time, no one was there)

Konami announced a port of Castlevania II, for some reason, to the Gameboy Color on its release. They never went through with it, unfortunately. I'm sure that time around, in 1999, they would have fixed the very strange dialogue issues.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
For some reason I find it strange that Reddit is owned by a major corporation (if Advance Publications counts as such) and yet they're apparently such a shithole.

Reddit's a shithole because it's an echo chamber for people who hold their own intelligence in too high of esteem. Kind of like a few other forums that I'm not going to mention here.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022

(I think those URLs are made-up, though.)
The "preteen girls" one was real, at least; I remember it being mentioned back when Reddit reluctantly decided to prohibit child porn in response to a public backlash.

As I understand it, their previous policy had been to never give a fuck. Then some people from SA decided to step in and publicize the fact that Reddit was hosting such things, at which point Reddit said "ok, fine child porn is against the rules now", though I think their enforcement only went as far as removing the ones that people had been drawing attention to.
If it's something grey-area like lolicon, I can see where the "reluctantly" comes from, given how people fussed over it elsewhere. But if it's actual pictures of children having sex, then they're lucky they didn't get firebombed, much less raided.
...if that's true then how can you "reluctantly" prohibit child pornography?
Reddit's official policy at the time was total freedom of speech (to be downvoted out of the hivemind) including that child/preteen shit. Nothing "illegal" by the letter of the law was technically allowed to be posted, it but it was still redditors sexually ogling children.
Oh, okay, it was that "post and ogle" crap. :P Not actually porn, but still very, very creepy. And kids do not always smell good, either; my niece tends to think washing her feet is optional...
...I'm not sure how banning child porn is a slippery slope thing.
No other normal person can understand that line of reason, either. To say that there's a slippery slope to banning it is to imply that child porn has merit (beyond the slippery slope argument) and should be kept around.
There's definitely part of my brain that says that really these people weren't technically doing anything wrong, even if it is extremely reprehensible.
Then there's the part of my mind with the foghorns and the sirens and the giant
