Probably because "the good stuff" isn't as recent, which doesn't make sense, and their apparent logic was what I was questioning.

This is hilarious: I noticed that the CD case for a game I bought like 10 years ago fit together poorly, so I cracked it open...and it turns out that some genius attached the anti-shoplifting tag to the underside of the CD tray:
Note also that the insert has a forward-facing ad, despite the tray being opaque black plastic. Quality product, EA Games!

I've only had a moment like this once before, with one other character, and I decided to go through with it.
