I think assuming that the Disney Channel's writers even know what open source software is is giving them too much credit. Clearly whoever scripted that line just picked something they thought sounded techno-babbley.

DISNEY IS CLEARLY TURNING THE CHILLUNS AGAINST OPEN SOURCE ADVOCATES

NEXT THING YOU KNOW YOU'LL BE SEEING YOUR KIDS INSTALLING .NET ON THE KITCHEN TOASTER

    Hi Imi.

Last I heard the Disney Channel was the top-rated kids' network in America, so someone must.
  • so I am in the mood to attempt making musics again thanks to my Mac's sudden usability

but which DAW to try out, t'is the question

I wonder how people can stand to watch TV anymore. The bugs are more obnoxious than ever, the commercial breaks are absurdly long...

I download the TV shows I want to watch off the Intarwubs.

"Purity" is driving me insane right now.

Neither operating system on my computer feels "pure" and there's nothing I can do to fix it...I'm really anxious and I can't relax

but why would they need to "do the research"

it was just a minor bit for a silly joke for a silly kid's show. Pretty much everyone in the show's target demographic is not going to know exactly what's being discussed at that point, nor are they going to care. You hear Geordi and Data going on about tachyon beams and dilithium crystals and hitting the deflector array with a hammer to make it blow up a space entity and chances are you don't know what the hell they're really talking about either. The point is just to enjoy the show, and if that sort of thing really ruins your day then I don't know what to tell you

^^^^ I would feel like I was making myself dumber if I kept watching a show in which I knew the writers were using terms and subjects that they clearly do not know the first thing about; it is cheap and lazy, and makes other people dumber. I just do not like falsehoods. But whatever. I am a weird person.

It doesn't make other people "dumber". If a guy is a plumber by trade and the episode of Law and Order he's watching talks about coding a gooey in visual basic to track an IP address isn't going to make him any dumber for it. He's just watching a show for the hell of it. At most, it offends a very tiny portion of the audience. For the rest of the population, the main demographic that networks are targeting, are more than happy to suspend their disbelief and just enjoy a show.

I can't help but think that after a few years of trying to win back the sizable audience they had when they were running Ren and Stimpy, Nickelodeon was desperate to try anything -- without, of course, understanding what made R&S so popular in the first place.

"I have an idea for a show!!"

"Is it WACKY?  Is it ZANY!? Kids want that kind of shit now!"

"Yes! It's a show about a cat! Who is a dog! Who is a CAT!!"

"*gasps*  oh ... my.... GOD. RUN THAT BABY"
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
IIRC it has only the barest similarities to R&S (asshole/idiot pairing, gross-out humor), though. Most of the show's humor is derived from the fact that everybody hates Cat and Dog.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    Go get pretty, Lumine.

I have become addicted to a game level editor. Alas.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
What do your levels look like?

Also I never noticed the out-of-place "S" in the Lowe's logo until now.
  • Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
    Huh, I didn't either. Strange.

Also, I confused it with a movie theater chain named Loew's for a second there. Derp.

One of the things I plan to do this weekend is work on the logo for the 11.975MHz book, which I'm planning to use the old hand-drawn kind-of logo look that Crumb's comics typically had and that was common for other comics of the 40's and 50's.  It pleases me to know that when it will come time to ask for objective criticism of it, I am in the right place

Pterry appears to be, not getting better but declining much less rapidly than expected.  At this rate, he should be able to finish his last book.  He says that it's a Witch book.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I'm worried that I know too little about lettering, though...

Also I just remembered that Nickelodeon seemed to have a lot of faith in that show. I'm not sure how popular it was but it seemed to get a shitton of merchandising compared to something like Hey Arnold! or The Angry Beavers (I think they usually had to make do with fast food tie-ins) and even a short in front of The Rugrats Movie (the show had been on for seven months at the time that came out).
  • You have to admire the old codger for continuing to work with his condition.

I'm not sure what I'd do if I got hit with that.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
My levels so far are nothing to get excited about. I'm just learning the capabilities of the engine.
