Depends. Time Warner purchased Atari right before the great crash of 1983/84 where they were hemorrhaging $1 million per day, and then some years later did the exact same thing with their purchase of AOL.

I always assumed it was a matter of brand recognition. Time Warner Cable is a name a lot of people know and trust; throwing it out could be foolish.

So, it turns out that Abe: Odyssee is a really freaking hard game.
It looks like it's easy, and it is actually easy in a lot of parts, but unless you want to deal with the death of an innocent slaveperson, you have to get 100% completion. And that is difficult, as the game saves according to checkpoints. You can rescue 10 slaves, and that'll go right down the toilet if you die before you reach the next checkpoint.

What would happen if Ponyville burned to the ground, then the Mayor went insane and insisted that people continue to refer to acknowledge her authority even though the town no longer existed, so she got a trailer and put it where City Hall used to be, then bought some stick-on lettering at PonyOfficeMax and spelled out "OFFICE OF MAYOR MARE, MAYOR OF EX-PONYVILLE" but nobody listened to her so she became depressed and created an entire thriving metropolis in her mind, and just sat in the trailer all day, laying on the floor daydreaming about her perfect city?

Fluttershy would probably feel kinda intimidated, since Bubbles is so much stronger than her. She would tell stories of how she and her sisters regularly beat the crap out of giant monsters, and Fluttershy would be all like "oh...that's...nice..."
Xfinity probably worked for Comcast because no one likes Comcast. Changing their name to anything else would have made a difference, no matter how small.
