Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."

"Now there's this whole subgroup of people out there who really think the whole show is all about Ecstasy. It's not. 'Chemical X' just sounded mysterious and it was quick and it was just like, ok, fine, 'Chemical X'."

I don't know why, but this amuses me.
Considering that "Chemical X" was a "Can of Whoop-Ass" in one of the pilot shorts, that makes it even harder to believe.

reading a Lets Play, dude encountered a glitch Pokemon.

he points out that it looks like there's a grin on the top one.

    I sorta see it myself.

You've seen the ♀ glitch in Yellow, right? I've heard that described as "a blood-red face peeking out through a tear in the void" or something along those lines. I can kind of see that too.

Oh, I'm at DIA right now.

The place somehow doesn't look "modern" to me anymore; Frutiger (the typeface all over the signage) now strikes me as "neutral".
  • What exactly would a can of Whoopass have in it?

Not the can itself, but the Whoopass. What would, y'know, make it require that name? Hot sauce? Jalapeños? The blood of the manufacturer's fallen foes?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
It was a can of meat.

Heh, that was the context of the quote, amusingly enough...McCracken was talking abut the forced name change.

Apparently everyone at CN was OK with "Whoopass Girls" until Mike Lazzo was meeting with some cable buyers and realized that it wouldn't sell under that title.

    Can of meat indeed.

Heh, Mike Lazzo...ironically I think he wound up being one of the driving forces behind Adult Swim!

^Eh, a lot of us don't have problems with that kind of meat...

They're about to board the flight to Detroit, so I guess I'll see you later!

Sometimes I wonder about an alternate timeline where thing happened in a different order and "Whoopass Girls" needed up as-is on Adult Swim.

I imagine it wouldn't have achieved nearly the popularity Powerpuff did.

@True: Out of curiosity, have you ever seen the original "Whoopass Stew" short?

AU: See you on the flip side!

(This is probably a dumb way to refer to time zones, but still)
  • Just watched it again.

I'm surprised at just how much made it from the original to the show it spawned.

Yeah...even the Amoeba Boys were in it!

Technically, he did. He refused to run for a second/third term. His first term he wasn't elected, the president at the time McKinley was assassinated and Teddy became president. He served the rest of the term, got reelected, and refused to run again despite many people telling him they'd overlook the legal grey area of him running again.

Though, he did try running later when he didn't like how Taft did things.

Seriously, though. I think you mean part 2. If I'm not mistaken, they did the movie in two parts and part 1 is already available for purchase (as many dvds had to be recalled to fix that little misleading blurb on the front).

The movie is quite bad from what I understand and no one really cares, the problem with the blurb being the only thing of note.

I guess part 2 is suppose to coincide with the elections? I'm not sure what anyone things that will accomplish, close to zero people actually care.

Actually, I was referring to the announcement of Paul Ryan as Mitt Romneys VP. But the 6th of November isn't election day is it?

I'm not sure when it is exactly, I just remembered the movie and read that they wanted part 2 to coincide with the elections, or some such.

I was wondering why you brought it up, since no one cares about the movies, that makes a bit more sense.

And yeah, peeps probably would have happily made Teddy King, but he decided to pull a George Washington and declare that two was enough...Until he figured out that he could do a better job than Taft, but when he ran again he just split the vote with Taft and the other party's candidate won.

Why can't political manifestos be short, witty, entertaining, and most importantly to-the-point

Mein Kampf sounds frightening and evil on the outset but reading it is the literary equivalent to watching linoleum curl

    same with Communist Manifesto

To Mao's credit he tried to go about it a bit differently and pare his down to bite-sized chunks but this is the same guy whose idea of wisdom of doubling a harvest was planting double the number of seeds in the same spot

By the time people were running their gums about Ayn Rand again and hearing "..it can be a difficult read" I'm fairly sure it's on the same lines as her socialist/commie predecessors and now they made a movie about it; I guess so you can be bored to death minus the inconvenience of having to turn a page
  • This show has a surprising number of dark episodes for how silly and lighthearted it usually is.

What about the one with time travel?

Apparently Black & White 2 have some interesting glitches.

Huh, so do Black and White 1. I didn't know pressing B on certain floors of the Celestial Tower (a.k.a. obligatory Pokémon graveyard place) would make the trainers turn around.

On another note, it's kinda funny how most of our Pokémon discussions lately have been here instead of the Pokémon thread.

For a second I thought someone said Romney made Ron Paul his VP choice and that was a frightening notion, all those redditors in line to the voting booth on election day

Now, I'm not saying that philosophical relevance is necessarily tied to skill with the written word (*Sartre is quite unreadable IMO*) but rather a manifesto is a short essay of idea blown up into a tome for no discernible reason.

Muddled political philosophy seemed to have captivated Europe for much longer than it should have. From what William Shirer (Berlin Diary, Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich) stated is that during the first half of the century the well-to-do and those aspiring to climb the social ladder in mainland Europe would have such a tome handy with a few talking points related to them, but nobody actually ever read that shit for reasons we're talking about here. Having a thick-ass unreadable book by Marx/Hitler/Rosenberg on your coffee table was some sort of cred back then.

I don't think Das Kapital was popular with rich people since Socialist/Communist revolutions were a constant threat.

Hitler was popular since he was saying "Kill the Jews and Degenerates" and this chimed with the thinking of the day that Eugenics was a good thing.
  • As opposed to unmuddled political philosophy?
