The last time I saw Marxists fighting Nazis of any sort was back when people would spam and counter-spam Soviet and Nazi propaganda on /b/. :P Seriously, WWII's over, guys, knock it off.
AU: As I understand it, it was L'Oreal that trashed most of Filmation's library, I suppose because they thought it was of no value. The shows themselves were only saved because a company in the UK (the same company that held the rights for a while, I think) happened to have PAL copies of them.

Goddammit, so many people on AARoads are engineers or work for state DOTs
Makes me ENVIOUS; why can't I have a cool job like that
Dammit, Blip's not been working for me for a while now (a few days, I think?).
Every time I try and go to Blip's website, Firefox tells me it can't connect, and embedded videos don't work. So far, I seem to be the only one with this problem.

You can buy the complete Powerpuff Girls series on Amazon for only $50 O_O
i wish to come up with a song lyric for this signature, but no song lyrics are coming to mind
Welcome President Washington! You lead the industrious American civilization! Formed in the conflagration of revolution in the 18th century, within a hundred years, the young nation became embroiled in a terrible civil war that nearly tore the country apart, but it was just a few short years later in the 20th century that the United States reached the height of its power, emerging triumphant and mighty from the two terrible wars that destroyed so many other great nations. The United States is a nation of immigrants, filled with optimism and determination. They lack only a leader to help them fulfill their promise.
President Washington, can you lead the American people to greatness? Can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time?

I'm thinking about Calvin and Hobbes, for some reason.
I've always wanted to buy the complete set. They sell The Complete Calvin and Hobbes as a three-volume set, but it's $90 even on Amazon...makes me wonder if it would be cheaper to buy the 8 original books it would take to complete the set (the three "treasuries", then the five collections that followed them). If I could get each for around $10 it would still save me some money over the "complete" box set...

But how will you crush goats with 8 random paper-backs?

Oh, right. Yeah, midnight can take its time, I suppose. It'll be here before I know it, anyway...
Looking at my actual copy of a 1992 PC Mag again, and I just realized something: All those goofy "multimedia adventure" programs they made a big fuss about 20 years ago are the same things they sell for quarters, sometimes pennies on the dollar in the App Store and Market now. Huh.

I keep thinking they should bring back the Living Books series for Android and iOS. It doesn't seem like the kind of thing many parents would be willing to pay for on desktops nowadays, but I bet there are tons of people who would drop a couple bucks in the App Store and hand their kid a tablet to keep them occupied for a while.

And given that the appeal of those games came primarily from clicking random things to see their animations, it seems like it would translate perfectly to a touch screen.

Entertainment Rights was that company; the rights now rest with their successor (and former subsidiary) Classic Media, which is in the process of being bought by DreamWorks Animation. I'm surprised that they didn't get bought sooner, honestly, though DreamWorks Animation wasn't the only suitor (we don't know who the others were, I don't think).
What I wonder is why the hell L'Oreal bought Filmation in the first place, and even shut it down the very next day.

Well, okay, you've got a point; the idea of The Learning Company reviving the "Living Books" name is more or less just a fantasy on my part.
But I am genuinely surprised that nobody's taken the basic concept--an illustrated story being read, with various hotspots in the background that can be "touched" to set off little animations--and built a series of touchscreen games around it, AFIAK.
I suppose the biggest roadblock would be acquiring the rights to publish well-known children's books in such a manner.
Loreal is the company of evil. It manipulates women into hating themselves so they will buy hair products, of course it would destroy culture and stories whenever it could.
