I do that too, but apparently if I bottle myself up for too long I kernel panic. *shrug*

^ Oh god, Vanilla is eating itself.

  • So in a fit of irony, I am having to re-download Firefox to replace Google Chrome, replacing it because Chrome--shockingly--has memory leakage problems. Or at least it does for me.

Funny, I seem to remember that being the big fuss about Firefox...

  • Chrome... memory leaks

    oh gawd please no

In other news, I want an HH shirt.
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
AU just changed his avatar like 5 minutes ago and already I'm reading his posts in Buttercup's voice. This amuses me.

HH shirt, eh? You could probably have one made...
  • amount of memory Opera is taking up: 188,728 K

    number of tabs open: 14

amount of memory Chrome is taking up: almost the exact same amount

    number of tabs open: 2

you can see the problem here.

  • CA is Bubbles and AU is Buttercup

    so who is Blossom
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I was wondering the same thing. "Commander and the leader"...but who would that be?

    Also, Tre, http://heapershangout.tumblr.com/heapette pulls up a 404. :(
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Pfft, silly me, I forgot to fix that dang redirect. :P

    I'll go fix it now.
  • So now I am having literally the exact same problem with Firefox I just had with Chrome.

This shit is just obnoxious. I literally need my other browser *solely* for Youtube because it doesn't work right on Opera for some reason.

  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
    What problem is this?
  • this problem

    1: go to Youtube

    2: click any video

3: wait for up to an hour while your browser freezes and every so often gives you a prompt about an unresponsive script

  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Have you tried updating your Flash Player and all that jazz?
  • Aaaaaaand... it should be back. :]
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
    Oh. I never got that.

But it does freeze from time-to-time for reasons.
  • Hmm. Now that I'm thinking about it maybe I should have some sort of "latest update" link down at the bottom since I didn't implement game saving like MSPA (which I kind of can't do, sorry).

And possibly a link to the original thread, too, just in case anyone wants to submit commands.

-cracks knuckles- And so it begins.
  • Fuck this, I'm running a malware check.

I thought it might be because I haven't installed any Windows Updates in awhile but it won't let me check for updates because, and I quote "the service is not currently online". Whatever the flying fuck that means.

And, whenever I restart Opera, an extra tab will pop open, and the URL will always be something like this.

[Possible malicious URL removed. Better safe than sorry. - Central Avenue]

don't copy that, I don't know where it goes.

I can tell them to stop loading in time, but it's just stupid, what the hell is this?

Yeah, if you're getting random URLs like that, you probably have some kind of malware, sorry to say.
  • this is great, I tried to go to cracked.com just now and it sent me to xkcd instead.

    fucking what.

Clean your HOSTS file. It might have been hijacked.
  • deleet system 32 that should do the trick.

But seriously, that's another reason I gave up downloading shit.
  • CA.

    I don't have a Linux.

I don't know what a HOSTS file is.

Also, Tre, I know I was joking around earlier ("unpaid intern"), but I really am impressed with how much effort you're putting into this Zestpoole thing.
  • I'm pretty sure Microsoft isn't trying to troll you.

    Just sayin'
  • I don't think they are.

I'm just not nearly tech-savvy enough to even look at sys32 sideways, much less touch the thing.

I'll just run the automatic fixer.

  • And you're adding an easy to understand text file.

    Easy as pie.
  • FM, I do not think you comprehend how absolutely, horrendously, hilariously easily I fuck up electronics.

I do not take chances with this kind of thing.

I am reminded of Dia's claim that because he was a pagan he couldn't figure out how to crop a picture.

Somewhere a pagan IT professional is crying.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
I should install Windows 2000 (I think I have a copy of it around here someplace) inside VirtualBox, then delete system32 and see what happens. XD

    You don't understand man.

My level of incompetence is both very real and difficult to describe.

Surely you can handle cutting and pasting a single text file.

And it's just the hosts file; it's not as if you're going to render your computer unable to boot or something if you mess it up.
  • Also, Tre, I know I was joking around earlier ("unpaid intern"), but I really am impressed with how much effort you're putting into this Zestpoole thing.

    Thanks.

I'm a bored teenager with a whole month to burn, so this is helping me keep from boring myself to absolute death.

Also, since nobody used the Heap's Tumblr anyway I went on ahead and converted it into a new thing: http://heapette.tumblr.com/

In my mind ABC Lionsgate got the rights for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics, because I think branding them would be fun. So I've been trying to do just that!

I should probably learn to use Inkscape, seeing as how I'm not going to get to use Illustrator beyond a trial version of it anytime soon (Inkscape deters me because of its subtle pain-in-the-assery, not because of the buttons-and-knobs aspect of it).
  • Malwarebytes still claims to have found nothing.

    *sigh*

I use Inkscape to draw my road signs and stuff. I've built myself a little library of shields and arrows and things taken from various sources, and I just assemble them and add the appropriate text.

But that's about all I know how to do in it. :\

I've never used Inkscape but I think I'll learn eventually. Up until now I've just used really big .png/.psd files in Photoshop/Gimp and used those as logos or whatever.

Your HH logo would probably be pretty simple to recreate as a vector graphic, even in Inkscape.

You could even do the wordmark, though you'd want to convert the text to a path so it renders properly on systems without League Gothic installed.
  • I'll try it once I get Inkscape, then. I'll save that adventure for tomorrow, I did plenty tonight :P

For now, I think I'll just kick back and relax till I fall asleep. But that won't be for a while, hehehe.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Hah, I do have a Windows 2000 install disc! It installs really, really fast on this machine.
  • Me too, can't sleep.

The song I posted is pretty rad, give it a spin.
  • If you like it, the dude has some free tunes, and his stuff is pretty cheap on itunes.
