does this picture remind anyone else of the "X, X everywhere" meme?

I'm considering buying a "Speed Limit 55" sign for my bedroom...I could get a small-size one off trafficsigns.com for only $12!

Maybe a "No Turn on Red" too, but I want to wait and make sure I get a traffic light before I get that one, because otherwise it'd be stupid.

this makes no sense out of context, but I still find it racist somehow. Just y'know, subtly (that is a sarcastic "subtly", by the way. What does "SILENCE IS FOO'!" even mean?)

...seeing Brandon Grotesque's rounded features (corners and terminals) played up (I'm not sure if it's intentional or not) is weird to me.

That is a very "Anonus" comment.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I must depart for the evening.

    I figured it would be.

    Good night Imi.

regardless of whether or not this is warranted!

When I get a steady job, I'm going to pay for my own phone/phone bill. Because I want to eliminate as many things as possible that seem to be keeping me under my mother's thumb :/

    EDIT: Night Imi

Wood-type posters, like in the 19th century, I think.

I haven't looked at many of those, honestly.

Jumpingzombie, you and I need to start an animation studio and make a cartoon adaptation of the Junie B. Jones series.
  • edited 2012-07-25 23:23:51
    ^Nah, there's only a stage musical adaptation

CA: I completely agree. Though, it would probably anger even more parents (I mean, what cool kid reads nowadays :P) Unfortunately, as many has probably seen, I cannot draw worth crap.

I can't draw either...we'll need to recruit someone who can!

I imagine if a Junie B series were made nowadays it would be Flash-animated...which could work, I guess, but only if you went with much more stylized character designs.

CA, you never seem to think about modern, traditionally animated TV cartoons.

I'd wondered what the animation unit of ABC Lionsgate would be called...I like your "Ctrl+Freak Animation" idea, at least for the anonymity it has (you'd have no idea it was the animation unit of them).
  • edited 2012-07-25 23:36:27
CA:I would prefer traditional animated, in order to better imitate the original drawings of the series. It's not like all cartoons nowadays are flash (just most it seems).

For some reason, as a kid, I thought that creepy/crappy/weird show Angela Anaconda was some sort of adaptation of the Junie B books because the characters looked similar. However, that is the last style I would want JBJ to be as a cartoon.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
...huh, that show was created by Sue Rose (who also created Pepper Ann).

I kind of want to look at more of her things now; Pepper Ann had its basis in a comic strip in YM, but I can't find any examples of it.

I would prefer traditional animation for Junie B--it would certainly let us get closer to the style of the original illustrations--but I was thinking it would be shoved under "edutainment" and as such be given a low budget.

But hey, we're pretending, so we can have as much money as we like! ISN'T THAT RIGHT

Well, she was a co-creator; Joanna Ferrone was the other creator.

Also, you may know that Ctrl+Freak is owned by ABC Lionsgate, which has several hundred billion dollars of fabulous cash, so YOU'RE RIGHT.

I was under the impression that it was a Protestant belief that God interferes directly with the world and punishes people who do bad things, while Catholics instead think that they are punished in the afterlife for being bad.

My church always told us that we're all sinners who deserve to go to hell, but fortunately there's Jesus so we don't have to worry about a thing. Also, we should still try anyway cause it's the right thing.

And my church has an open door policy, so there's a whole mix of ideas and stuff. It's mostly white though, given the surrounding neighberhoods.

I don't know who would voice her. But, I'd go for someone more obscure. Maybe even one of the actresses who does her on stage, if they have a good voice. I've actually had the opening credits sorta planned out with her saying her catchphrase in the song so that the episode itself wouldn't have repetitive opening narration/

I imagined Ctrl+Freak being, essentially, the animation unit of The Hub (aside from Hasbro Studios's various partners, but in my mind I'm trying my hardest to make the channel something other than Hasbro's advertisement funland and also shows nobody else wants...but the latter is fine).

^^ I thought so :] I am under the impression that one of the defining features of Protestantism (and possibly the biggest reason for its creation) is the "salvation by faith alone" idea.

    I think so.

I like it. It allows more forgiveness and less regret. I still end up regretting and stuff, but at least I'm getting better at half of it.

    I like it!

For some reason I want to add a "couch gag", so to speak, where there's something in the opening that's different in each episode.

Also, Anonus, what does C+F's production logo look like?

I imagined some uninspired thing where the words in the company's name would pop on the screen, one-by-one, with each successive layer shrinking in size before the appearance of the next one. All this would be on a yellow background, with "CTRL+FREAK" in white and "ANIMATION" in black. The music would be these sort of beeping noises.

Honestly it seems like a placeholder for a more inspired logo.
