  • So my aunt has a refrigerator magnet that depicts Andy Warhol dressed as a woman.

My reaction could be summed up as "...?"

Sounds like something Andy Warhol would do.

Man, I wish I had a place to write down what I think about certain cartoons and shows, so I can just point people to it instead of constantly repeating myself. Maybe it's time for me to get a tumblr?
  • Cat basics:

    4 legs, a permanent dissatisfied/glazed expression, 140bpm
tempo and half time beat with prevalent use of basses as the focal
    point.

The other day I had a cool thought I wanted to remember, but I didn't write it down.

    Now it's gone.

So. After two years of annoying Blues, SWAT team encounters, botched runs, torturous PMC troops and many, many falls from skyscrapers, I finally finished Mirror's Edge.

    I feel so, so accomplished.

(also, I never noticed but this game has an awesome soundtrack.)

I absolutely love that I am not the only person in the world who is into both Touhou an graffiti.

    God bless whoever drew this.

Lately, I've have impulse to write more and more (but not my major projects because I need to transfer those files :/). It's great but it's also made me feel artistically inadequate in comparison to other people. My need for instant perfection starts to rise and I get demotivated. For some reason, though, writing my first drafts on paper instead of the computer keeps me motivated. Don't know why, but it makes the writing seem "purer."

^Very possibly. I have rather sensitive skin.
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
    I prefer paper first too.

    Not sure why.

  • Okay, I don't want to post this on the actual thread, but could everyone please stop making stupid posts on my newest thread? I was hoping a smaller community would be more willing to follow a rule I made.

  • If you provide a name for a character, you get to play that character. Until then, please don't post.

Funny, I'm the opposite. I prefer writing on a computer, because I write out my thoughts as they come to me an I need to be able to alter and rearrange them at will, in a way I haven't quite managed to do with paper yet.

  • Oi, I apologize for my own misunderstanding, Kex.

Guys, don't be a dick to him, please. He explicitly said he wanted a serious game. Let 'im be.

Though Kex, an affiliated discussion thread would likely help.

  • Nah, it's fine.
  • I say we make a You Are Your Avatar thread.

    I'm like this as well.

Sorry.  I misunderstood the rules.  I'll be nice, I promise.

I could bump the "heapette" adventure if people are still interested?  I don't mind silliness there, fwiw.

    ^^Drama magnet, I suppose.

I don't think elaborating would be a good idea.

I'm about as white as they come, so I feel kind of guilty about liking it.
I own the first three seasons on DVD and the first three strip collections. McGruder has some interesting things to say, mostly about his own race, really. Though, he isn't afraid to address people of other races if he thinks it's warranted. I never really felt guilty about liking it, possibly because McGruder seems pretty good at getting his point across without generalizing...

Though, I might feel different if I was black. As I said, McGruder mostly seems to have things to say about his own race.
    They still have laser tag?
A few years back, the company I was working with did Laser Tag as a group outing.

I owned face and was given a cloth Superman poster for my brutal victory over my co-workers.

    You needed to know this.
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, at least what I've seen of it, is fucking Shakespeare compared to the cartoons I'm talking about.

...I mostly mean the 80s Transformers cartoon
Oh gees, I actually have the first season and a half on DVD. Megatron had some downright crazy, ill-thought out schemes. Like the time he lowered the entire Empire State Building underground, fitted it with weapons, and then put it back just so he could rule over New York. I guess he gets props for being ambitious, but you'd think there was a better use for all those resources that would gain him more long-term benefits.

There was also an episode where he attempted to pose as Optimous Prime, using a device that would basically make a remote controlled body clone. It worked when he incapacitated Prime, but eventully Prime came back... The Autobots decided the best way to tell the difference was to basically have the two race for it or try to out shoot each-other. 'Cause, you know, I guess no one knew of any questions only Prime would know the answer to.

  • OK then, if it's going to get us into this whole "I can't be within 80 feet of anything that even vaguely reminds me of TVTropes" thing, I'm just not going to bother.

It wasn't really a serious suggestion anyway.

Most of the drama in that thread was caused by a specific group of people, none of whom are here.

If you don't want one, that's fine, but I feel that "there's also one on TVTropes" is kind of an absurd reason for it.

Well the Cuddlepile and Fetishes are horrible.

AFAIK the only thing wrong with You Are Your Avatar was stupid drama, which could be avoided.  But I dropped out early on so I might be wrong.

    @Fouria
    Please revive the heapette adventure.

SOOPER PHUN FACT TIEM: I recently acquired a few real live Chick Tracts. One of the first things I noticed is how detailed Jack Chick draws the big burly MANLY characters and how rarely female characters appear.

    Oh OK, thanks! :)

In that case I will stop with the laziness and get updating.

The choose your own adventure thing you were doing? If so, I approve since that was fun :)

Midna doesn't come here so I honestly don't think it'd be a problem, but given how much just mentioning the very idea has done, I suppose it's best not to even try.

  • I really don't see how having a thread with a similar premise to one over there is "modeling".

There seems to be this weird fear that if we do too many things that are "troperish" we will somehow MUTATE INTO TVTROPES.

    C'mon guys, be reasonable.

Were it for a lack of interest I wouldn't care, but this kind of reaction is a tad silly, don't you think?
