    Good night Lee.

For some reason I'm thinking about Kids 'R' Us. I don't remember much about the store, except that they had like, beads on their carts for toddlers to play with when sitting in the seat.
  • did somebody say yume nikki

    I did.

    Also two of its spinoffs.

    no.

    :(
  • I wish I had a time machine so I could prove just how stupid people were in the past.

cause let me tell you, people were stupid in the past, so much more than nowadays.

Raggle fraggle does not even begin to express how stupid were in the past.

You know you're a Unix noob when you have to look up what that does.

    Like me. :P

Legos frustrated me as a child.

I could never get them to look like anything other than...well, a square.

It's best to think of each block as a pixel or bit.

    I never lie.
  • Can someone tell me when it's ever a good idea to, instead of posting text in the OP of a thread, you link to mediafire download links of the text?

Because I am fairly certain that the answer is "never".

Yes, but I was quite young at the time.

Also Dream vs. Dream is the most disappointing thing in the world. A Yume Nikki fighting game! Silly, but why not right? Except that almost nothing of it exists. There are some sprites, a couple animations, a menu, and a bunch of background. The rest is text. Lots and lots of text. Good text. Interesting text. But text nonetheless. There is almost nothing actually to this game yet.

Bah, I am being overly skeptical again.

I started IRC on a channel dedicated Linux even though I never really used it. Back then they could be annoying as the Mac users in the regard that they'll make sure you know what OS or computer they used.

In the late 90's/early 2000s, though, nobody was more annoying than the Amiga users

  • I actually tried to set up an Amiga emulator on this thing, God knows why. I was bored.

Yeah took me about five minutes to never even entertain the idea ever again. Ever.

Silly FM, Ubuntu didn't exist in the late '90s/early 2000s!
  • okay actually I'm going to take back everything I just said about Dream vs. Dream.

because this is the best thing.

  • 2004 doesn't count as "early 2000s"?

Also Ubuntu's birthday is the day after mine. :3

I would call 2004 mid-2000s but I guess that has more to do with my own perception of time than anything else

    I guess it's early-mid 2000s. -shrug-

I generally consider "early" to be from 1999 to 2004, then "mid" is 2005-7 and "late" is the rest of the decade and 2010 up until Scott Pilgrim vs. The World came out.

Great, my littlest rabbit, Chollima, just took a jump off my should and hit the deck and busted her mouth and it's bleeding but not too much.

I checked her chompers so it doesn't look like she broke a tooth or anything but it is bleeding a bit. I'll check her again here in a bit to see if the bleeding's stopped.

In my head 2000-03 is "early", 2004-06 is "mid", and 2008-10 is "late".

But like I said, that has more to do with what was going on in my life at those times than anything else...which is why I'm not sure where to stick 2007; it's just kinda there.

    ^ Oh...I hope she's okay.

    ^^^I hope she's okay.

2000s for me: 2000-2004 is "early", 2004-2006 can be "mid", and 2006-2009 is "late".

The 2010s don't feel that distinct from the 2000s yet to me.

Well there's some idiots outside mulling around and that might have startled her. I dunno, but I just checked her and she seems fine if a bit chagrined.
  • I love these weird, Japanese installation wizards.

    For some reason

the installer text is usually CLOCK MELTING followed by the percentage installed.

Cynicism doesn't need to be a negative thing.

What you take away from expecting the worst - whether it's encouraging confidence that you can still accomplish it regardless of your expectation, or crippling pessimism that makes you want to give up - that's what ultimately matters.

Okay, I checked again and saw the damage. She got a little gash on her upper lip and it's already stopped bleeding. That's good because I'd hate to have her gnawing teeth to be removed.

    That's good to hear, Odin.

Rabbits seem to be really skittish creatures.
  • Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.
Well in her case it's really odd because before she came into my care she was a show rabbit who was pretty well trained to be really calm and just sit there, which she still does. She's been with me for a year though and I live in a quiet fenced-off area so the sound she's used to hearing is me and the other rabbits. Those morons outside carrying on maybe what did it.

Lazuli: Melting? Sounds like they're using LHA (which is native to Japan); its default compression method is called Freeze.
  • Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.
Are they still insisting on using LHA? It took Japan the longest time to warm up to western computers and when they did, it was the Apple, and and it took them a long time to warm up to the PC, but through all that they have not let go of that one compression standard.

Hell if I know. I see it a lot on games with no translation patch though. It's also usually (though not in this particular case) a sign that the game in question isn't going to work.
