Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
I seem to remember there being several "disappearing blocks over death pit" segments in Magnet Man's stage in Megaman 3. I kind of wonder how many Megaman fans have grudges against them.

On the one hand, they're not quite as long and you could use the Rush Jet, but on the other hand, they have magnets that try to pull you off the edge of the blocks.

Wow, you don't see much of anything with a plain-jane HD44780 display on it anymore! That scanner is probably about 10 or 15 years old; I want to say it's a Symbol, as the NCR ones (Walmart used 'em) look totally different.

Hee hee, I knew you'd appreciate that one.

It's weird, for the most part my local Kmart looks almost exactly like this

In that picture...I find it strange that the sign is mounted off to the side instead of on the facade above the entrance. I don't recall seeing one like that before.

I actually laughed at the way "the appliances themselves" were arranged. It looks a bit more squished-together than I'd have expected.

Yeah, it's very haphazard. In a way that's reflective of the store as a whole; it's long overdue for an update and anything that's been changed since the last time it was remodeled just seems thrown together.

I dunno what it is about this song but as the video and my experience after having just played it proved, it has a tendency to create chaos.

So I played it while my brother and little sister were in my room, and before I know it the video itself is sort of happening, and I'm the DJ who's playing "One" while the rest of the room just breaks into fighting and whatnot. Only difference is instead of me getting into it and being beaten up, my older sister came in and yelled at those two to go to bed... all the while as I continued to play.

    Funny how that happened.

Why does nobody like this scene?

    It's awesome

And apparently George Lucas in all seriousness wanted to call it Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men.

See, I think ...and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a rather clunky title.

I agree that ATKOTCS is a clunky title, but I still prefer it over ...and the Saucer Men. I mean, come on...

I think "Saucer Men" would probably have been a better indicator of the Fifties pulp science fiction movie feel Lucas was going for.

I think the reason people made such a big deal out of the fridge and ignored everything improbable in the previous films is that it wasn't part of the genre that they wanted or expected.  It was the wrong "sort" of film.

Tre, you seem into Gotham today. First the Obama thing and then the Conan thing...
  • Most of it is, so it should be.

Do you happen to know what the episode number is?

AU, I knew you would comment on the Gotham in that picture. And you know how I knew? Because I almost said something myself. :P

Funny, just today I looked at that one logo Armin designed that was nothing BUT Gotham and I was thinking about contributing to his Gotham collection but I couldn't think of any at the time.

Conan itself uses it in the logo and title sequence, and the Obama thing was a bit on the show.

  • I kind of wish people did that with their things more often. I mean, it's not like I would do it myself unless I didn't want something but I like the idea of finding new things for free.

Re: Armin Vit's logo that was nothing but Gotham: I found it bizarre that he designed the freakin' logo but he included such a poor-quality version in the article.

Also, goddammit Armin, why are you using GIF for static images in 2012? >:(

There's a deathtrap in Final Fantasy III. Found it right after I decided to take a chocobo for a spin after I beat that gold guy at his gold mansion, and without saving. I was not pleased.

Using GNOME 3 on Xubuntu feels weird. Xubuntu is designed to be lightweight and less resource-intensive than regular Ubuntu, so running GNOME kinda feels like defeating the purpose.

That said, I prefer taking my otherwise default Xubuntu installation and installing gnome-shell over a plain Ubuntu installation any day, since the latter includes a bunch of stuff I don't want. (Unity, Empathy, etc.) And it's not as if this computer really needs a "lightweight" desktop environment anyway.
  • That was surprisingly deep, I liked it. And the (honestly a bit corny) chant at the end after the Doom Patrol dies is a nice touch.

"General Linux Thread": Good idea or bad?

I know Tre and I would post there, maybe Lee, but would anyone else...?
  • You know what's weird? Ever since I reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer I'd been trying to find out how to turn Aero on even though most people say it's a stupid feature and Windows wouldn't be bad without it.

I like having it now, it's shiny. Plus my computer automatically turns it off or on whenever the battery gets unplugged or plugged in, which is a nice touch to save power.
