Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Lazuli: Worst in the entertainment department or the safety regulations department? Or possibly both?
It was advertised as a free carnival, so we didn't bring money. But all the food not only cost money, but was expensive as hell. Furthermore, all the rides were for children, and there were no games of any kind. So I spent two hours standing on my feet doing nothing but watch other people have fun.
I remember when I went to the worst miniature theme park ever.
It was unbearably hot, and all the rides were lame, and I didn't even want to go in the first place but I had to because family was over. And no one else would agree with me on how lame it was.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I understand the concept of a toll road in and of itself--the people who make use of the road pay for its maintenance, rather than it coming out of everyone's tax dollars--but it seems like if you live somewhere where you have to use toll roads regularly, you're getting hosed because you're paying taxes for public highways in addition to paying out of pocket for the roads you use daily.

Why did I make this?
Also I circled Twilight/Sparkle because I realized after the fact that I hadn't made it obvious that Twilight Ave is meant to be the N/S dividing line and Sparkle Ave is the E/W dividing line.
I went to wales, yes the entire country was underwater, i was chillin out in the pub down the road from the campsite and the beer garden was covered in river

So as not to derail the house numbers thread:
H&FJ's Numbers collection of typefaces is a shining example of designers' fascination with "the vernacular", which they use to refer to takes on numbers and letters that originate outside of the world of type design or lettering or graphic design. It makes me feel kinda depressed, because those sorts of uniquely-crafted things have become rare in a day and age of quicker solutions and I wasn't around for a time before they became popular, I don't think.

I know what you mean. It's not that the modern sort of digital fonts are bad--well, for the most part, at least--but it seems like they've pretty much displaced any semblance of hand-crafted lettering. Need a sign for your store? Just have the shop down the street build one based on Gotham!

Gotham's ubiquity is bizarre to me, somehow. Maybe it's my fondness for it speaking but it stands out to me somehow, instead of coming off as neutral like it's supposed to.

For some reason I still notice Gotham when it's used. I don't get that with other widely-used typefaces...I mean, I don't look at the signs at Kmart and say "Oh hey, Futura!" but I look at the signs at CML and go "Oh hey, Gotham!"

Hi guys, I just got back from the worst carnival on the planet. But on the plus side we're ordering pizza, so yay.

Just wondering OOC. Would you--when it's done, of course--be willing to make a mock book cover for In Preare?
Just wondering.
Make it look like how the book makes you feel.
Or failing that, a collage of cool images with no real meaning. The book should be attributed to Lucius Phaingpenn.
