And Flash is still fucking broken on i386, and I just noticed the Debian developers aren't even going to try to help, they marked the bug Will Not Fix.
I might have to put Windows XP on here just to get Flash working. THIS SUCKS AND SO DOES MOTHERFUCKING GNASH.

It seems a lot of tech people don't like Flash.
It's kind of stupid that they won't fix it, seeing as how it's so common; YouTube uses it for their video (it's a really common online video format anyway) and they're a household name, although they also have an HTML5 player that's in the testing stages.

I'm sure there are other reasons, but that seems to be the big one, honestly. Whenever I ask people about they're dislike of Flash they start going "well the corporation...."
Well, in all fairness, it's a helper package in non-free that they can't really do much about, but on the other hand, the feeling of helplessness I get from reading shit like that is very upsetting. Especially when I've been up all night -- A-FUCKING-GAIN :( -- and I should be asleep, not swearing a blue streak at people I don't even know for not being able to make Adobe fix their fuck.
And Gnash is a buggy piece of fucking shit that's constantly one or two major revisions behind Adobe and is basically good enough to play youTube video AND NOTHING ELSE. It's a pain in my ass and I wish I didn't have to use it, but c'est la vie unless I want to put Windows on here, I guess. Or use branded Chrome, either one. Or just stiop trying to use this laptop for anything useful tonight and switch back to the big laptop.
Oh, and a lot of people don't like Adobe for various reasons (most of which have to do with how expensive Creative Suite is and the fact that none of their pro tools run all that well outside of Windows -- even OS X is kind of a second-class citizen now), but honestly, Flash is one of those things you can't really not have anymore, and the plugin generally behaves itself these days. It used to be a lot worse, especially when a lot of people were still running even worse things, like Netscape 4 on Windows 98. While I'd like to see a decent free alternative to Flash, and most of its guts have been documented well enough for someone to try, there doesn't seem to have been a whole lot of interest in developing Gnash beyond getting the various Web video players working. There's still no complimentary authoring tool to Gnash, as far as I know, and that would make people notice.

...OS X being a second-class citizen to Adobe is bizarre to me. Don't the sorts of people who use Creative Suite programs professionally use OS X?
Creative Suite programs being expensive bothers me due to being combined with how expensive fonts are and how Creative Suite programs are among the few that can access any OpenType features that enhance their usefulness. -_-
AU: After the x86 cutover, Adobe dragged its feet quite a bit updating CS for the new architecture, and I understand that even after CS3 finally made it out, there were still some rough edges here and there.
As for the complaints about Flash being bloated and duplicating things the browser should be doing? Well, I hate to say it, but Netscape and Microsoft brought it upon themselves, and with Flash already here, the alternatives now have to play catch-up. SVG has been a thing for years and no one's implemented any sort of Flash alternative with it yet, as far as I know. HTML 5 is still spottily implemented, and some implementations are bitches and won't play video even if they support the tags. (I want to throw my phone through the nearest wall, hard, when it does that shit.) As for the rest, well, DHTML and AJAX have actually gotten pretty good acceptance for things like simple special effects and layering. I haven't seen a Web page that uses Flash for that in ages, and it's generally considered pretty unprofessional to do so instead of using CSS.

Dammit.
In the full Minecraft game, squids sometimes show up underwater.
And when the game decides to be fucktarded, they sometimes show up a good eighty blocks in the air.
oh you finally got the full game? Coolish.
Seen any Endermen yet.
You cannot comprehend the infinity that is Minecraft.
'Least you don't have to deal with The Farlands.
