  • CA: Decomposing. Haven't had much sleep in the past few days.

Imi: Hello and Yes, it's so full of potatoes.
  • This Converge album actually is pretty good

    What has become of me

Converge is great, and pretty much all they do is met with unanimous critical acclaim.

the thing is, there really isn't such thing as ok metalcore. Some metalcore (*Coughmathcorecough*) is great, and then there are a few mediocre ones, and then...

Which features the talents of Lights and pre-Skrillex Sonny Moore!!!

And after Charlie Brown, there's what looks like some odd VH-1 special with a bunch of 1980s videos in it. It's from the 1990s, since one of the ads mentions World Cup USA 1994.

Oh, and ads for FILM CAMERAS. How quaint! Most places don't even sell 35 mm film anymore, though they might have the cheap disposable cameras.

My existential crisis was born in 1994.

Of course so were a lot of people.

    YAY WATER TOWERS

I'm watching Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown, and for some reason I was all choked up the whole time. This was one of my favorite movies when I was little, and I haven't seen it all the way through in years. Also, it turns out practically all the places they mention in Normandy are real, including the Chateau. This blew my mind when I first found out about it a while ago.

Borger, Texas.  Along with the famous leaning water tower there, there's a little company that makes the best Italian dressing I've ever tasted.

That particular Charlie Brown movie is also incredible, especially the way they handle Normandy. The way animated Peanuts has handled simple layout/background and color elements has always been striking to me, especially the halloween special.

  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
And yes, all of this is on VHS tape. Back in 1994, there wasn't anything else, except maybe 8mm...only geeks used Betamax by then. Oh, and USA still had the Cartoon Express, and VH-1 was still using the 1985 logo!

I need to go in the general direction of bed.

^The only TV I remember from '94 is the series finale of Star Trek: The Next Generation

^^How does that logo look in context? (It's actually from 1987, by the way.)

AU: Definitely different...even by 1994 it looked kind of dated.

Is it just me, or did New Wave-era videos just kind of disappear after about 1987? It would explain why VH-1 was suddenly so obsessed with it around 1994...that or it was another case of the kids and teenagers who grew up with it hitting their 20s and 30s and missing their youth. :P

It just seems like something no one would devote a whole special to anymore, since just about every old New Wave video you could think of is on YouTube now.

I miss their 1999 "Big 1". The gaudy piece of crap they replaced it with is stupid and inversatile in comparison.

^It must have been one of their phases.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
Yeah, the Big 1 was awesome. Though that "MUSIC FIRST" thing would probably give Viacom terminal cancer these days. :P

Is it weird that the primary thing I associate VH1 with is Pop-Up Video?

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
No; that was the thing that made them relevant.

And the thought of devoting any of their non-Nickelodeon, Comedy Central or BET-related channels to anything but reality TV shows would give Viacom terminal cancer these days.
  • Man is a most complex simple creature: see what he weaves, and how base his reasons for doing so.
    Hey Imipolex.

    You like Thomas Pynchon, right?
  • Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
I think I'll be headed to bed now. I have something to do early tomorrow morning. See you tomorrow.

    "Foster" is a cool word.

Doesn't it seem like it would taste good?
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    Like chocolate?

I was thinking more like iced tea. But chocolate works too!

For some reason I'm watching some of the 2011 Pop-Up Video videos now...why are the icons in obnoxious neon colors?
  • But I thought the name "Foster" was supposed to taste like beer.

Not that I've drank any beer.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Foster's does not taste like beer.

    Foster's tastes like blandness.

For some reason I want to design a deliberately generic logo for "Equinox Industries".

Australians will tell you that Foster's is considered a shit beer in their country, but you have to keep in mind that anyone who is so polarized about something as mundane as beer also believes that their choice in such (usually obscure or expensive) is an indicator of penis size.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
    Meh.

    I prefer cider anyway.

Yeah, I would not be surprised if the sort of people that complain about Foster's or Budweiser (both of which are lagers) are ale snobs.

Oh, and I just saw the unexpurgated version of Derpy's big scene on YouTube. I think they made her a bit too dumb. :/

You know, I have long wanted to play a Tycoon-style game dedicated to building and maintaining road networks.

I wish I had the knowledge and resources necessary to create one, because it seems like adapting the OpenTTD codebase would be a good place to start.

Let me tell you. About Fallen London.
^^^ heh, I watched that episode with Justice once and took a sip of cider every time Rainbow Dash didn't get to.
