I wonder if the opera would be less controversial if it opened with The Chorus of Exiled Jews instead of The Chorus of Exiled Palestinians.

Because, you could so interchange them and it wouldn't affect the work I think...

Imi, you still there? Cause I'd like to at least know that one person at least takes this subject with some amount of seriousness. because if's obvious Frictional doesn't, and right now, the only words I'd have to offer people like that, are the kinds of words that get people banned.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    I'm still here.
  • Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
    Clock: Ouch.

I have to agree with you and Imi here. Personally, I prefer to avoid communities like that.

I came here because I wanted to vent in an environment that is friendlier than the forum I just read that puke at.

Knowing a bit about the history of the people on this site, that they as well, don't take to kindly to this kind of shit sexism.

and I did that, because for all that I'm angry, it wouldn't accomplish anything if I just spammed a full page of curse words.

To quote a song, Despite all this rage, I would still just be a rat in a cage.

    I'm a bit better now.

Just, let me know I'm not alone, this shouldn't be accepted, at all!

Thank you Croco. thank you Imi.

  • Gee, I'm sorry.

I just though that a little light-heartedness would make ya feel better.

    sorry.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    I agree it's very unfortunate.

I hate to say it, but the gaming community in general seems distasteful to me, and not just for that reason...although the gamers around here seem to be much better.

    This.

    And I reiterate my apology.

    sorry.

I was just filled with a little too much vitriol, honestly, you're a pretty nice person now that I'm more calm and can see without this haze of red.

    Have a hug ~hug~
  • @ Clock: Well, I'm ticked now.

That quote doesn't just denigrate women; it denigrates gamers. It denigrates anybody who has ever had an opinion about a game. It sets back feminism to pre-WWII standards, and depicts gamers as the kind of idiots who would want to set back feminism to pre-WWII standards.
  • edited 2012-06-15 01:54:54

    Thanks.

And yeah, I'm really terrible at judging that sorta thing and the correct response.

And I hope you do not undergo the misfortune of interacting with such persons in the future.

^ You mean like pre-WWI. Seriously, is this some sort of reactionary thing?

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Is the misogyny in the gaming community really that bad? I've never really been involved in it, unless looking at Sonic discussions when I'm interested in that franchise or posting in them and TVT's Video Games forum count.
  • edited 2012-06-15 01:59:40

It only takes one mouth-breathing lout to pollute a team/raiding party/discussion/group ect.

But yes, such absurd opinions do seem more prevalent in gaming communities in my experience.
  • Do you really want to see how bad it can get? cause I could show you how bad it can it get.

  • Sexism and homophobia in the gaming community surprised me, because I assued that people proficient in technology would have more progressive social ideas for some reason.

I still need to watch the American version. The Swedish version was pretty good.

A bit slow at first to me, but it picked up in the end.

Friday loved it all the way through.

  •  I just finished Ib. I got one of the better endings (though not the bestest best awsum ending. In my view this one's actually better for assorted reasons). It was a fun little horror game, I recommend it. Though some of the puzzles require the help of a guide, or at least did for me.

Why do people still say things like this in 2012? Seriously, what the heck?

Ignorance, generally. Or stupidity, though the differences between those two things are minimal.

  • Couldn't sleep, so I decided to bring my laptop into my bedroom. Obviously this is going to help.
