Art is an expression of the self, thus, when people look upon your art and see beauty within, some attribute this as those seeing beauty in the artist.
Thus, no one is ever truly ugly, because there will always be one person who finds your expression of self beautiful.
though they might not be part of the majority of people, to woe over that is to devalue the people who do find you beautiful.

Actually, now that I think about it, the most likely role I'd play would be that of the hermit mentor type - the Obi-Wan or Yoda who the hero seeks out and who provides DEEP KNOWLEDGE and all that.

I'm not sure what role I'd have if I was in a superhero comic. As interesting as being part of the action might be, I'd probably be more suited to a supporting role on a team.
