bruh I'm telling you you need to get a cracked copy of FL.

Take it from someone who stubbornly stuck with Audacity for years. No good comes of using subpar DAWs.

  • More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
In Off you can choose "automatic" every time a battle starts and you should win all the battles, but I suppose random battling slows things down. It is sort of a throwback type thing. I think the experience is great. :)

I will go to sleep. I am sooooo tired and half-asleep and stuff. But I like myself like 0.01% more.

*hugs* This is the truth, isn't it? u_u Sooner or later, we all have a game over, and there is no "continue" for any of us.
  • Was the game about the Nigerian Prince any good, Mo?

I really should get around to acquiring a copy of FL. I'm starting to strain against the limits of LMMS.

Clean Pillows is the best. *hugs for him* I am going to sleep.
  • Juan's dueling Haven in MTG.

Haven's on his last dregs, but he managed to survive on 1 LP, which is a thing that only Haven could do.
  • I need Windows on a computer with functional internet first though. Or Wine. I might be able to get it with Wine, but I haven't had much luck there before. Mostly because I couldn't figure out how the damn thing worked.

Stupid Microsoft, always making things 467348357737880956884895796% harder than they need to be.

Yeah it's one of those "either you like it or you don't" type things and I've never been one for the more grindy RPGs in general. Sole exception: The Star-Stealing Prince.

where are they dueling? Surely not Cockatrice?
  • I'm still averse to pirating stuff, even when I can justify what I'm pirating.

Like Touhou. Still haven't re-acquired 06 and 07 and Lord knows when I will.
  • Yeah, Cockatrice

The main server's down, but everybody just uses the backup Woogerworks server. Did no one tell you?

Heh, Aondeugggggggggggggg would probably say that the point of Buddhism is to not care about game overs. Not caring about game overs unlocks the true ending, and you don't have to watch the credits afterwards either. It's that good.

  • That's where I started reading, actually. I subscribed in anticipation of the event and read up on everything I could.

My disappointment came in waves. At first I was pretty okay with it, just appreciating the story and the art (gotta love those Alex Ross covers). As it went on, though, there were a bunch of things I just couldn't get past:

    • Dr. Thomas Hurt and all the wacky shenanigans that the Waynes got up to. While Thomas and Martha are usually portrayed as nothing more than charitable socialites and turning that on its head can be interesting, I didn't feel it was done well. Bruce Wayne was the result of an orgy? Alfred is his biological father? Dr. Hurt is actually Thomas Wayne? Did I even read that right?
    • The focus on all the crazy Silver Age stuff was too weird for me to accept and was sort of tainted by the story's otherwise dark tone. Zurr En Arrh and Bat-Mite showing up while Batman beat people with a stick was just jarring, and not in a good way.
    • Batman's crazy preparedness and general overcompetence. I'm the biggest Batman fanboy you'll ever see, and while I'll argue all day that he could beat Superman, I was rolling my eyes at all this. A separate personality triggered by a codeword? Man.
    • Lack of a true ending. This goes without saying, I think, since the actual death of Batman was part of Final Crisis.

In the end I thought it was meandering and too crazy for its own good.

Ah. I can agree with too meandering and maybe too crazy. As for the first bullet point, as far as I could tell from reading the comics, all the parts about Bruce's parents and Alfred were lies by Hurt trying to break Batman, what with Dr Hurt being implied to be
    Spoiler:
    A demon/possibly the devil
unless I missed some details, which is entirely possible. For the second, I actually enjoyed the the silver age stuff and reinterpreting it in the darker context, though I will admit you have a good point with bullet 3. I did like the idea of The Batman of Zurr En Arrh being a split personality, but the execution was eh. Not sure how I feel about bullet point 4.

I have been told this but I have not been told how to get the Cockatrice program itself, since I no longer have it. And frankly that's the only way I'm playing Magic since I loathe the idea of supporting WoTC in any actual way.

    likely.
  • Generally I cross the line at non-handheld video games, and the absolute best things I couldn't bear living without.

That second one is why it was so grueling to download Scott Pilgrim. I'm going to buy the books and the movie eventually though.

Also, just for the record I'm planning on subscribing to Spotify when I get a good job.
  • I could try and figure out how to get it to you. Not right now though.

I'm mentally spent and about to collapse, so goognight all.
  • Why the Wizards of the Coast dislike? Hasbro been getting stingy?

They're kind of an awful company in general. Stingy isn't how I'd describe it. More uh, "authoritarian"?

For the thing in the spoiler: I didn't catch that until I started reading other people's reactions, and it felt as out of place as Bat-Mite.

My problem with the Silver Age stuff wasn't that it was included, it was that its inclusion felt hamfisted. It just wasn't done well.

Overall I feel like there's the roots of a good story there, but it grew into something that should've been trimmed.

I bet I would enjoy this

You might. It's part of Morrison's 7 year run, which on its own is kind of an odyssey.
Basically everything that I have read by Grant Morrison (which is admittedly only a tiny, tiny fraction of his oeuvre) has endeared me to him greatly, so I might be up for that...

    Daaaayum.

Well, learn something new every day, I suppose.

In other news, can someone please tell WoTC they need a logo change? Because, uh, they kinda do.

    Rather badly.

Fair enough. Personally, I didn't think that either the silver age stuff or the thing is the spoiler were that out of place or hamfisted. Definitely could have used some tightening up though. I definitely agree about that.

I would also appreciate this. Specifically his oneshots (eg. Kill Your Boyfriend) if you've got them.

I mostly have Morrison's batman stuff, but I can do some digging for the other stuff, if you like.
  • oh if it'd be a bunch of trouble don't worry about it. I was just curious.
  • Also, kind of a random thought, but I was going through the Legends of the Dark Knight series and read the 5 issue arc that Grant Morrison did. I found it kind of interesting to compare that arc with his Batman RIP stuff, just to see how he's changed his style over the years, since both stories have a similar plot frame (not sure if that's the right word).

Another random though, but I was re-reading Deadpool: Suicide Kings and that's one of the few Deadpool comics I've found that I enjoy outside of  the runs by Joe Kelly, Gail Simone and Fabian Nicieza. It's not the best written Deadpool story, but it's entertaining enough, which I can't say for a lot of Deadpool's stuff.

Nah, it's not to much trouble.
