I think the best part about this is that it's just something that randomly happens in the background and has no connection to the rest of the show at all.
Girl on the left has been in maybe a third of the episodes, girl on the right doesn't even have a name.
also something interesting about the show is that it passes the Bechdel test but fails an inverted form of it, there are dudes, but they only ever talk about the girls.
really my only complaint is that it's pretty fanservicey, sometimes egregiously so.
which kind of runs counter to the show's theme in my own opinion!
i thought the theme was "teenage girls"
that's kind of reductive in this particular case*
its main selling point in my opinion is that the cast actually act like actual girls their age and as such it's a bit more, I don't want to say "realistic" necessarily, but believable than most of these "cute girls doing cute things" comedies. The girls have personalities outside of being a comedic trio.
I have seen people be mad about the subject of some of the jokes (pubic hair and periods), people be mad that one of the side characters is overweight, people be mad that Galko called a black man "handsome", people be mad that there's not enough porn of it (which lmao)....
we are not talking about reasonable people here, we are talking about The Anime Community At Large
I actually found it cute that all of their names began with artificial understandings of each other that they just rolled with after getting friendly. Which makes sense. It's pretty much The Struggles Of Being A Girl with a comedic bend to it (alt: "Man These Things People Say About Girls Sure Is Dumb"), but the focus on character interaction - such as Otako's teasing of Galko - makes it work as, well, a comfy show that's a bit more than CGDCT? I mean as Like they're all lovable and fairly consistently portrayed as simply good people acting in ways that are more immediately easy to relate to than other chill cute shows.
I kinda didn't find the fanservice as apparent as Jane did, apparently, but agree nonetheless. Anyway, aight show.

*it's usually not though.
bammm......
anyway i think the intended demographic is still female-likers
this runs about five minutes longer than my anime attention span so I guess I can't watch it anyway
maybe this is for me after all
