Places you have been

edited 2018-06-06 06:40:37 in General
To my recollection, I have never left the United States and have been in these states:

  • Colorado (given, since I live here)
  • Michigan (mother's side of the family)
  • Ohio (both the Toledo and Columbus areas, through different circumstances)
  • Wyoming
  • Nebraska
  • Missouri
  • Illinois (once stayed in Chicago in 2002, and was at O'Hare for a layover in 2004)
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Florida
  • Minnesota (at MSP for layovers in 2013)
  • Texas (was at DFW for a layover in 2017)
  • Georgia (layover at Hartfield-Jackson in 2017)
  • California

I, too, have never left the US. :\

States I've spent at least one night in include Ohio (I live there, after all), West Virginia (some time in 1994 and again in May 2007), and Georgia (in July 2011).

Additionally, I've passed through (stopped only for food, gas, etc.) Kentucky and East Tennessee.

Also: there's a pattern here. (Hint: there's a reason I specified which part of Tennessee.)

    Update
  • edited 2017-01-09 08:44:37
I recently wrote up a list of all the U.S. states I've been in, with extra subcategories of activities.

all the states I've ever been in:
ME, NH, VT, MA, RI, CT
NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, DC, VA
    KY
    OH, IN, IL, MI
    NC, SC, GA, AL, FL
    SD
    MT, WY, ID, UT, CO
    TX, AZ, NV
    WA, CA

states I can really say I've lived in for at least a few weeks:
MA, CT, NY, PA, VA, OH, FL, maybe TX

states I actually have done touristy stuff in, not counting states I've lived in:
ME, NH, RI, DC, IL, MI, SD, WY, UT, CO, AZ, NV

all the states I've been to for reasons OTHER than tourism and/or travel (i.e. not just passing through):
    * NH, VT, MA, CT, NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, DC, VA, KY, OH, IN, AL, FL, UT, CO, TX

    Amusing trivia:
    * I've so far been in Montana for about five minutes.  Saw the north entrance of Yellowstone NP.
    * I've been in Idaho for a few hours.  Stopped by the Idaho Falls visitor info center but it was past 5pm and closed.
    * I've been to Alabama twice, Texas twice, and Utah once for music competitions.
    * An old family friend has a farm in Indiana.
    * Some relatives used to live in Kentucky.
    * Despite having lived in Massachusetts and Virginia, I'm not sure how much touristy stuff I did while I was there.  Seems like not much.
    * We almost moved to Texas.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
where in PA did you live
  • Other countries I've been to:
    * Canada (provinces: Ontario, Québec, British Columbia)
    * United Kingdom (component countries: England, Scotland)
    * Costa Rica (provinces: San José, Cartago, Alajuela, Heredia, and maybe Limón?)
    * mainland China (areas: Guangzhou, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai)
    * Hong Kong (before and after it was handed back to China)
    * Macau (only after it was handed back to China)
    * Japan (briefly - airport stopover)
    * Germany (by technicality only because it was an embassy)

where in PA did you live

an apartment in downtown Philly, for a few weeks.  pretty darn close to Center City (Broad Street and City Hall and all that).

my old piano teacher lives in downtown Philly too and her student had an apartment that would be vacant for a summer so she arranged for me to stay there and get lessons.

(she used to fly down to Miami to teach every week or so but school would be out during the summer.)

nevertheless i did end up discovering -- and walking to -- the big art museum.

also the Franklin Institute that year had an exhibit on videogames.
