Western Pennsylvania is so famous for its beauty during this season that they filmed a movie here

That movie was The Road

    Fucking exactly.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
Pennsylvania, where most of the filming took place, was chosen for its tax breaks and its abundance of locations that looked abandoned or decayed: coalfields, dunes, and run-down parts of Pittsburgh and neighboring boroughs

Imi can confirm that there are many places near here that look exactly like that.

Take every goddamn dollar we spend on the Steelers, take it to fix the roads.

Similarly, I don't live in Michigan, but I've gone there/had to be dragged there enough to say that maybe Detroit shouldn't be building a new Red Wings arena and the state needs to fix the fucking roads too

but yeah, I heard that whatever Rooney is in charge of the Steelers now wanted to get on the dole to build up a strip mall or something in the vicinity of Heinz Field
  • the nickname Pottsylvania is well-earned

if I actually lived in the Mitten State I'd commiserate with y'all

I am already halfway doing so

I'm so glad Mother doesn't want to move back there anymore; it has its benefits, but Michigan is the kind of place people tend to move AWAY from

School loyalty aside, Michigan doesn't actually strike me as much worse than Ohio.

They have Detroit, but we have Cleveland, so that pretty much evens out the score.

I always found it striking how Mother gets choked up anytime she is reminded of Detroit's sadness (though she's not from there and refuses to go there beyond the airport), meanwhile the outside world doesn't feel sorry for Detroit, which I tend to assume is for racist reasons.

Also, Ohio doesn't have shitawful roads, at least in my experience.

    I like Michigan

It has frogs and Sleeping Bear Dunes

Mom has lived in both cities and she says detroit was worse

I like frogs, but I've never been to the Sleeping Bear Dunes

Ligotti is from Detroit. It has inspired much of his writing.

    Counterpoint: See above.

Airport aside, I've never actually been to Detroit. I asked Mother if we could go to a Tigers game someday in part to have an excuse to go there.
