    Similarly, I don't live in Michigan, but I've gone there/had to be dragged there enough to say that maybe Detroit shouldn't be building a new Red Wings arena and the state needs to fix the fucking roads too

    School loyalty aside, Michigan doesn't actually strike me as much worse than Ohio.

    They have Detroit, but we have Cleveland, so that pretty much evens out the score.

    I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    I always found it striking how Mother gets choked up anytime she is reminded of Detroit's sadness (though she's not from there and refuses to go there beyond the airport), meanwhile the outside world doesn't feel sorry for Detroit, which I tend to assume is for racist reasons.

    Also, Ohio doesn't have shitawful roads, at least in my experience.

    Airport aside, I've never actually been to Detroit. I asked Mother if we could go to a Tigers game someday in part to have an excuse to go there.
