The Compline Game RP

Yarrun XIX

You find yourself at the lower entrance of Tiefblue Park, just before sunset.

The park's a fairly safe place in the Brink, where parents can take their children to look out on the eponymous lake. At least, it is in the day. In the night, you're more likely to find men and women with harsh faces and an air of menace around them, telling you to find somewhere else to hang out. You can already see a couple of them from the entrance, lounging on the park benches and looking at you suspiciously. 

You glance at the other two individuals who stand at the entrance. Did the Voice summon them too?

Yarrun XIX

"You're here. Good. I was worried." The voice echoes through your head, more powerful than before. And almost...giddy, even.

"I've brought the three of you here for a most important task. To seal the covenant, you must make your way to the lake and prepare the sacrifices. The altar should be ready. After that, well, we'll be able to meet face to face."

Salix Babylonika

*Telera slinks in, instinctively trying to not be seen. She carries something under her arm, looking around*

One-Winged Eagle

I sit in one of the park benches, leaning forward on the hilt of my sword. Tiefblue Park has been my regular haunt ever since my recent streak of unemployments. I don't dare to go home. I'm too ashamed.

I wonder who else the voice contacted.

I wonder what I'll be called upon to sacrifice.

I wonder what's going to happen today.

Tanya

Caroline sighed to herself as she tugged the leash to the dog she had brought with her.

She didn't plan on using it as whatever sacrifice had been asked for, no, this was just to help her remain inconspicuous.

and she was sure Roman wouldn't appreciate her sacrificing his dog after allowing her to borrow the creature.

Yarrun XIX

As the voice fades, you all become aware of each other. 

You have your orders: get to the lake, together, and complete whatever sacrifice she was talking about.

One of the thugs, a short woman with a buzzcut, checks her watch and motions to the others. Three of them break off from the park bench and approach each of you in turn. 

"Do you mind finding somewhere else to be?" they each say. Not exactly the same words, but the same sentiment and the same forced politeness runs between them. "There's going to be a...private event here in about half an hour, and we'd like to clear the area before it starts."

"I think I have an invitation." I say. It's so ridiculous. How do I prove that, if I was invited in a dream?

Yarrun XIX

Hongtai's thug looks back at the buzzcut lady. She shrugs casually and returns to her phone game. The guard turns back to you, looking skeptical.

"Most people who come looking for Barbs know whether or not they have an invitation. Gonna need a bit more than that."

One-Winged Eagle

"I said 'I think' as a courtesy, sir. I absolutely know that I have an invitation. I am meant to be here, just as you."

Tanya

Caroline sized up the thug for a moment before flashing her P.I. badge. "Listen, I'm here on business and none of that involves you or your group so I'll keep out of your hair if you're worried about that, but there's no way I'm leaving right now".

Caroline kneeled down and unleashed her dog, before loudly giving it a command to go home. 

Yarrun XIX

As Caroline's thug flinches at the at the sight of the badge and Hongtai's thug continues to look him over with bemusement, the buzzcut lady looks over the scene and puts away her phone. "Grunts," she mutters.

"Bart, let the boy pass!" she yells. ""If he's so sure that Barbs called him, then I'll take him with me to check with her." She sneers at Caroline as she gets up from the park bench, stretching her back. "And Francis, get rid of little miss PI here". 

"Got it, Ching" reply Francis and Bart. Bart silently steps aside, and Ching beckons Hongtai forward with something resembling a friendly smile. Francis, in turn, retrieves a small knife from his belt. "Last chance, lady. Move or I'll make you move."

Telera attempts to slip past the goons while they're preoccupied with the others.

Tanya

Caroline puts up her hands to signify no threat. "Listen, you might not like me here, but you'd probably dislike stumbling across poison as well, I'm out here investigating reports of stolen poison containers, real nasty stuff."

Yarrun XIX

Telera's thug, distracted by the brash investigator and the earnest young man, didn't notice as Telera slipped by. 

Ching pauses at Caroline's outburst. "...Feh. Bring her along, Francis. As long as we're dealing with Golden Boy, we'll let Barbs decide what to do with her. Bart, you're in charge; everybody else, stay with him."
