    The Spanish word for "dysentery" is an arc word in Ligotti's "Severini", which is interesting for a story whose denouement is one of his most classically Lovecraftian. Then again, the main character's neuroses are also very Lovecraftian.

    Before I found out that it meant shitting oneself to death, I thought that dysentery had something to do with losing one's mobility. Kind of like mad cow disease.

    It's not a disease so much as a symptom of infection. Also much more treatable nowadays.

    My dad had mild dysentry once, and he's still around.
