Dream Projects

A thread for all those wonderful ideas that are far outside of your ability to create.

  • a game that is basically a magic simulator.

with like a deep detailed system where you create spells by gathering materials and such. So that when you can finally toss your first fireball it feels like a real victory instead of just something the game is handing to you.

It'd have to have like a "magic duel" system too obviously, and a lovely fantasy world.

Queen Miko's perfect world of paradise. Aside from that, everything Miko wants to create will be created. :D
  • A comic set in a massive constructed world that I've basically had sitting in my head for... three years now? Eesh. It'd concern a group of four people and their quest to destroy a mysterious orb that has the power to rewrite reality.

    ...

It's better than it sounds, I swear!
  • Oh, also, a game that is sort of like a mix between Zelda and The Elder Scrolls. You'd venture into a world contained within a glass display case to kill monsters, delve dungeons, find secrets tucked away in the game's world, collect, create, and enchant weapons and armor, and it'd be set in an isometric world with pretty pixel art and stuff and graaaaah I need to get competent at programming.

I don't know if this is directed at me, Kexruct, or both of us, but I have no real desire to learn how to code.

Basically when I say something is my dream project I more mean that I want someone else to make it so I can play it.

Cutrek X sounds like a shmup.

Which is appropriate given who I am speaking to.

A long series of novels, all interrelated, with lots of recurring characters and intertwined plots and in-jokes and stuff.

I guess this is technically possible, but given my emotional state and inability to concentrate it's pretty unlikely
  • kill living beings
to kill those things that made the thought of lucid dreaming again terrifying, or at least make them stop talking to me (i'm a pacifist)

Imipolex G it's more about the journey than the destination, yes? :O You aren't Thomas Pynchon yet but you can start writing right now if you want to! *nuzzle* :D

a 3D Castlevania game with emphasis on exploration, atmospherics, rich soundtrack and visuals, and numerous callbacks to the other games of the series (with bosses and soundtrack drawn almost entirely from past games, often glorified versions of their originals).

outdoing (but with stylistic inspiration from) Symphony of the Night and Harmony of Dissonance, this will feature not two but FOUR castles, each with a corresponding set of areas that are thematically related to each other and to the overall vision of its castle.

it will be set in a university campus -- or rather, Dracula's castle has reshaped itself to resemble the main buildings of a university campus.

will feature at least two areas using the Vampire Killer theme (the Circle and VK2K2 versions of it).

last castle will feature all five classic Cv1 bosses each prosessing possessing a corresponding Dracula body part (some sort of bat boss, maybe a combination of Zapf, Company, and Darkwing -> fang, Medusa -> eye, Akmodan IV -> heart, The Creature -> nail (yes, a pun), Death -> rib), and there will also similarly be four bosses in the penultimate castle from which allow you to get to Death himself.  sixth Dracula "part" will be required -- Olrox -> ring.

Clock Tower to feature dual-remix of The Tragic Prince and Aria's clock tower theme.

Abaddon has learned cursive (no pun intended) and to fly.  he will float in mid-air while drawing script Roman letters with his baton, and his locusts will follow the pattern he draws, as you might guess.  but now he has twenty-six patterns to choose from.  Legion will first act like Granfaloon from Symphony and then also feature Nuculais.  Wallman ran out of super potions, but learned to play Bomberman.  Olrox still has expensive dining room furnishings but has learned to play Mega Man Battle Network.  Death will have multiple phases, and will be fought atop the Clock Tower, with bottomless pits surrounding a clock face with moving clock-hands.

will feature many instances of stuff happening in time with the music -- from disco-dancing skeletons to Wallman's bomb-tossing to a gigantic laser of destructive, evil light that shines down the main corridor of the final castle whenever the Final Toccata's loop finishes playing.

may even feature a track from Metroid 2.

entry boss will be a Warg, but as a boss a la Circle's Cerberus.
    Olrox's Quarters will have a warp to the dungeon, because it makes sense.  Clock Tower upper levels will not only feature gears and spikes and medusa heads but also wind because the atmospheric scientists are headquartered there.  Arena of Illusions (featuring Clockwork Mansion / Trick Manor / Rotating Room & Spinning Tale) will involve flipping between two dimensions;
beating Paranoia (area boss) will grant at-will ability to do so.  Demon Castle Coliseum in the fourth castle will outright give you the Vampire Killer and then force you to fight a long sequence of enemies.  Condemned Tower -- renamed to Isolation Tower -- will also feature new music, but will come with the familiar Gergoth -- who will of course crush the fuck out of all the floors.  Castle Keep will feature a room of discoordinated minotaurs throwing shockwaves (in multiple directions because it's now 3D!) right before final boss (who of course has Dance of Illusions, and three phases).  dungeon right before Castle Keep -- Mine of Judgement -- will serve as unexpected final area (the game will drop you into it right after you unlock a gate using Dracula's relics).  spinning rooms and endlessly-looping floor patterns may be a possibility!  Castle Treasury is another idea, for that second castle!

Blackmore will be somewhere as well.  so will Beelzebub (spelled like this, specifically) and Forgotten One.

all-new areas!  Disco Hall (featuring Wandering Ghosts) with falling disco balls and an insane drunken partying Wallman, Haunted Carnival featuring Rainbow Cemetery music and ghostly coaster ride a la DKC2 that leads to the Catacombs below (which has Legion boss).  Casino of the Demon Castle will feature a swanky all-new theme written by me (i already have the main part of it in mind).

    castles will be patterned thus:
    * castle 1: a relatively "normal" castle as far as Castlevania standards go, nothing particularly special.  areas include the Laboratory, the Library, the Trophy Hall, the Mechanical Tower (featuring Circle's remix of Clockwork), the mayincatec-themed Temple of Doom, the Chapel of Transient Hope, the Chapel of the Living Dead, and the Heretics' Shrine.
    * castle 2: an ornately decorated castle.  main corridor features Fate to Despair from Circle, as well as chandeliers, marble flooring, and gold-fringed carpeting.  other areas include the Theatre, a watery area featuring Greco-Roman artifacts, the Observatory Tower, Bianca's Quarters (named after a friend's vampire character) styled to look like an 18th-century noble's dwellings, the Casino of the Demon Castle, the Dancing Skeleton Club, the Moonlit Cabaret, the Chapel of Stained Glass, and the Lair of the Master (featuring the cool Crystal Teardrops theme and headed by a boss that makes reference to Blade II).
    * castle 3: a decaying, ruined castle.  main corridor is lined with bones and features the Skeleton Den music from HoDiss.  an Abandoned Pit full of hazards is here, as is a Prison, a Sanatorium, the Isolation Tower, the Grounded Ship (featuring Cv3's "Anxiety"), the Sewage Plant (featuring HoDiss's Aqueduct of Dragons theme), an Abandoned Village, the Arena of Illusions, the Chapel of Broken Glass, and the Haunted Carnival.
    * castle 4: the most evil of the castles.  main corridor features Bloodlines's "Reincarnated Soul" (later changing to Lost Painting then Final Toccata).  other areas will include the Munitions Factory, the Tomb of Akmodan IV, the Power Plant, the Clock Tower, the Disco Hall, the Coliseum, Central Station, the Demented Garden, the Necromancy Laboratory, and Olrox's Quarters.

areas in the same corresponding locations in different castles may be thematically related.  for example: Armory (1), Casino of the Demon Castle (2), Prison (3), Torture Chambers (4).  Industrial Complex (1), Heavenly Atlantis (2), Junkyard (3), Munitions Factory (4).  Alchemy Laboratory (1), Dance Hall (2), Forbidden Laboratory (3), Disco Hall (4).  Lookout Tower (1), Observatory Tower (complete with Planetarium as inspired by Cv64) (2), Isolation Tower (3), Clock Tower (featuring Death) (4).

A new renaissance of wuxia fiction.

Otherwise I would like to remake Asura's Wrath but with Platinum's expertise.

^^ Maybe Sonia Belmont could be the main character. :D

I figured that there could your choice of two main characters.  I named them Jason and Ginger after some real-life people I know.  Jason Baldwin is descended from the Baldwins, known for Morris and Hugh.  Ginger's surname I still haven't decided on, but it'll probably be Graves, after Nathan Graves.

    You have a point.

may even feature a track from Metroid 2.

    which one
    this one:

there's an old arcade in an upper floor of a certain building (has several games, including Klax)
this would be the music for it
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
well that one's all right but this is the best one

  • but would it fit a secret room in the castle where Dracula has stashed a bunch of arcade games?
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
no, but I could find some use for it, somewhere.
  • Castlevania set in a school sounds pretty rad actually. Really, there need to be more games set in schools.
