I can't say I know for sure but I think my book is probably filled with comma splices. Tre Listman has a lot of inter-narrative verbal pauses.

If they're both complete sentences, you don't use a bloody comma without a coordinating conjunction.

Only if they're both independent clauses and the semicolon is used to juxtapose a connection or contrast between them.

Also i was being just a teeny bit flippant there.

(Admittedly, i'm not nearly as aware of grammatical terminology as i should be, but i know the rules quite fluently, for the most part.)
