Why did Disney buy ABC? Because they freaked out about the repeal of fin-syn laws and worried that they, a producer of content unaffiliated with a network, would be at a disadvantage. Also, ESPN has come to be one of their crown jewels.

Why did Disney buy Fox Family? Because they owned a bunch of channels around the world that were prime real estate. Power Rangers was just a bonus.

Why did Disney buy Marvel? Because they never knew what the hell to do with Jetix and they didn't own things like Power Rangers or Digimon outright.

Why did Disney buy Lucasfilm? Do you even need to ask this?

    People said he was daft to build a theme park in a swamp. But he built it anyway, just to show them!
