this site doesn't work right with the back button

I click to the next page, press back because I want to see the previous one, and then it doesn't work.

You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I've noticed that too. From what I can tell, it happens like this:

When you click on a thread from the list, it gives you a generic thread URL like http://www.heapershangout.com/index.php?p=/discussion/4/say-hello (usually with an anchor "#Item_somenumber")

Then when you click to the next page, you get a page-specific URL like http://www.heapershangout.com/index.php?p=/discussion/4/say-hello/p25

Then, when you click the "back" button, the browser navigates back to the generic URL and Vanilla tries to guess where the last post you read was, and ends up putting you back on the same page

I'm not sure I explained that very well, but hopefully it at least makes sense, even though the system is contrived and broken.
  • yeah.  it makes sense.  well, the browser's action from the terrible page schema makes sense.  the terrible page schema doesn't.

Agreed. I never understood why it's like that, and it seems like something that would be non-trivial to fix :\
