Yeah, I was under the impression that this was more about the treatment of the subject than the subject itself. Nonetheless, it is excessive and unfunny because of it.

Really, if people can't be sure of the joke right off, you've flubbed the telling, and when you're dealing with material this touchy and morbid, that can go awry very quickly, so it's best to just stop while you're ahead.

For me it's kinda like, ok, i'm not super-savvy jaded Internet person i guess, but while a lot of the fuss you hear about cyberbullying strikes me as overblown, once you bring suicide or bleach-drinking or whatever into it, i start to think, well, hey, can you blame people for freaking out about this?  Or even that, you know, maybe they have a point and people on the Internet are too complacent about this kind of thing.
