Actually now that I think about it I still have trouble finding true interpretation, whatever true interpretation is.
No, I mean like they might make beautiful paintings that we would never be able to see because their eyes operate on a different wavelength than ours. Just as an example.

Things like insects though have incredible visual ranges.

Like, they're cool and stuff, but i still get this visceral feeling of discomfort from watching them.
Maybe it's the knowledge that they're an ancient lifeform.
Of course jellyfish are even more ancient and I adore jellyfish, so idk.
Spiders and snakes are the most common animal phobias; they're also the most common animals that are (potentially) very dangerous to us, but aren't intrinsically large and scary looking. i'd be very surprised if this was a coincidence.

As a rule, the sharks that are most dangerous are also the most obviously large and predatory-looking ones anyway. Beyond that, there's no reason we'd instinctively fear sharks, since we aren't sea creatures.
I find the occult interesting to read about, though.
