I have the artbook somewhere...not sure where at the moment, though. Probably in a book box hidden away as we need more bookcases but other Lain has a bad tendency to grab anything she can reach.

Yeah, I totes named my daughter after an anime character.

Plus I like the name, though Friday's name of "Laila" being combined with it, works well I think. Save the part where some people think we sorta named her after Superman characters.

It is pretty nice. Alliterates well (or is that assonance? I forget which one's for vowels and which is for consonants).

also if, on the one in a quadrillion chance, your daughter ever becomes a lesbian rapper, she could take the literally perfect stage name of LL Cool LL. Just saying.

in other news, I think we find out far more about Lain as a concept in SEL than we do her as a character, she's kind of ambiguous until the last few episodes.

Oh hey, I think my Lain has brown (or hazelesque eyes) and Lain Iwakura also has brown eyes.

All the more reason to force my daughter to cos-play when she's older.

tbh you should just never mention it, and then when she's 14 or 15--just old enough to start getting philosophical--just conspicuously leave out the artbook or something.

Lain seems slightly more fleshed out in the game as far as I can gleam.

I think the problem with figuring out her character is Lain herself is subconsciously trying to become the person she wants to be and she's at least once decided she didn't like who she became and basically hit the reset switch on herself and reality.

It's not until the end that she finds the happy middle ground she's looking for and we start to piece together what the hell has been going on for the last 10 episodes or more.
