The good stuff cost quite a bit, upwards of $60, $70 a bottle.

If one just wanted to get wasted as quickly as possible, Everclear and Bacardi 151 will do it faster and cheaper.

That being said, Absinthe, especially the good stuff, has much more complexity to the taste, and it's kidna fun to go through the whole drink creation process:
