I can't help but wonder if they put that sword there as a sly reference to that other Conan.

Although I've never seen the show (or I don't remember it very well) so maybe not.

His name is a reference to Conan Doyle, but considering how long Detective Conan has gone on for, I'm sure the creator has become aware of Conan the Barbarian.
