It's quite simple: "Xiaolang" ends in a g, so I can write it with a super-cute loopy tail. "Syaoran" doesn't.

You're pretty close to right. I got a stylus for my laptop's touchscreen and I've been practicing writing and doodling with it so I can properly take notes with it on school days.
