List of all the games I've marked "Not Interested" on Steam

edited 2016-11-14 15:57:21 in General
Steam's recent store interface update includes an ability to look through the list of games one has marked as "Not Interested".  It's paginated, but one can certainly copy page by page and paste into a Notepad window (to strip the HTML markup), then copy that and paste it into an Excel file, where one can use the TRIM function to remove needless spaces and then sort everything by alphabetical order.  (Paste it back into Notepad to strip it of Excel formatting, before posting.)

I work with a surveillance obsessed member of the Coast Guard who lived in Japan for a few years and loves Babymetal, his dogs, and Donald Trump and punctuates his statements with laughter in a manner reminiscent of a Dark Souls character and you're still the oddest person I've met on this planet earth

    I'm Not Like Other Girls

  • I don't even know what most of these are.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die -Season One- is a good game

Shame there will never be a second season because the creator developed a rare genetic illness and went off to become a Buddhist monk
  • Munch munch, chomp chomp...
I could do this but my list is in the thousands, that's work, and I'm definitely like the other girls.
  • FYI "Not Interested" doesn't necessarily mean "I don't like this".  It sometimes does, yes, but it might also mean "I am not sure if I like this, but if I ever get around to wanting this, it's something that will be on my radar so I don't really need to be reminded of its existence".  And occasionally also "I kinda like this game but the developer or publisher seems shady or unlikeable for unrelated reasons and I don't want to support them".

Honestly I should probably have put Dark Souls II on here too because I haven't played Dark Souls 1 yet, and that won't happen for at least another year or two.

I mean, I understand a few of these choices, but what the hell did Hotline Miami and Deadbolt do to you?

I'm just not really a fan of Hotline Miami's aesthetic.  I'm aware that it's probably a pretty fun game, from what I can tell -- I've even occasionally felt like playing something with its sort of gameplay.  So if I really decide that I want it I'll go put it on my wishlist directly.  I don't need to be reminded of its existence.

This probably applies to a good number of games here.  If you got me playing them, I'd probably enjoy them, but I'm not going to seek them out myself, nor would I likely pick them up given the choice between them and games whose aesthetics I enjoy more.  The Binding of Isaac is another likely example of this.

Deadbolt...I forgot what that is.  Hold on, lemme look that up.

Hmm, now that I look at it again, it doesn't look that bad.  I probably hit Not Interested just after reading the description because I got sick of watching trailer after trailer.  The description emphasizes the high challenge level of the gameplay, the use of undead as a major part of the premise, and an emphasis on gore, none of which are elements that I'm typically fond of -- though of course there are exceptions.  The trailer on the other hand shows that the game looks like Gunpoint...which is a game I once wishlisted and later acquired, but haven't yet played.

Well my guess is that there are two major groups of "other girls", the hardcore western gamer type and the weeb gamer type.  Which one would you be like?
  • I see no point in doing this, honestly.

Like, why not focus on the games we do want instead of mulling over the ones we don't?
  • Oh I was just curious what my list actually contained since it was now available in an easily-accessible format.

Let me see if I can as easily make a list of the games I have in my libraries.
  • I mean it's certainly a little interesting look at Glenn

*I* at least think it's a meat thread
  • It is basically Halloween Gunpoint, and both Gunpoint and Deadbolt are pretty good. Any stealth game where you can respectively jump off a roof, through a skylight and kill a guy or throw a knife into a zombie's face before shooting another and hacking another into pieces with a scythe.

And I get the feeling of just not wanting to deal with a game or a developer. Telltale is still on my banned publishers list after that fiasco with WD2, and I'm probably going to reject all of their future games by default. I just don't really see the point of marking them all off as Not Interested. Easier to just keep a mental record. Then again, you seem to spend an inordinate amount of time on Steam forums, so maybe it's just more difficult for you.

    The latter, overall.

    Fiasco with WD2?
  • edited 2016-11-14 17:37:35
So my Steam account games page is sort of a horrible way to generate a plaintext list of the games I have (or are on my wishlist, for that matter.)

I have this list here only ever because of those sales events where you get cards for going through the Discovery Queue.

Also I'm just mad at Idea Factory for going full stereotypical weeb with their games, with everything from needlessly fanservicey character designs to glaringly obvious waifu bait.
  • Anyway, I just unmarked (as Not Interested) Deadbolt.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    DOOM? Hotline Miami? Goat Simulator?

    I question your taste.

    DOOM? Hotline Miami? Goat Simulator?

    I question your taste.

The idea of badasses gunning down aliens in an FPS doesn't really appeal to me much.

On the other hand, I almost wishlisted the recent Wolfenstein game because it seemed to have good storytelling.

Goat Sim I've seen several videos of and it seems fun but in a novelty value way -- I'd get tired of it after a few hours and then not touch it again because doing the tasks would feel more like work than play.

    Hotline Miami I mentioned above.
  • Munch munch, chomp chomp...
I can totally get not liking the aesthetics but man do I love how HM looks and feels.

Man, whatever did HoMM do to you?

Good question.  I'm not sure why I have that there, and only HoMM3.  I don't even remember what the series is about.

    *looks it up*

Oh hey.  This actually looks pretty nice.  I dunno why I N.I.'d it

    *un-N.I.'s it*

    Hotline of Middle Miami 3.

    Too bad you're getting hotlined.

Is Broward County bordered by Fratsaway County?

No, but it IS named after a guy named Napoleon Broward.

"The idea of badasses gunning down aliens in an FPS doesn't really appeal to me much."

They're demons, not aliens, FFS, this is important. and it's honestly just as much a strategy game as a "gun everybody down" game
  • edited 2016-11-15 03:18:17
Maybe I'll try it out at some point.

TBH I'm probably more likely to...accidentally come by a copy of the original that fell off a truck, and play that instead. :P

Speaking of aliens, though, I think the trailer for Alien: Isolation almost sold me on that game, because it gave me a sense that it was about being stealthy in a horror environment.  I kinda liked that.  How much is this element present in Doom?
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
are we talking about the original old-school Doom or the new one? I mean the old one. Old gaems FOREVER
  • Can you even buy the old one on Steam?

    *checks*

Okay, apparently it is on both GOG and Steam as "Ultimate DOOM".

But the "DOOM" advertised to me that I marked Not Interested was the new one, for what it's worth.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
oh okay. I'm all right with that, then.
