But I am innately opposed to god-kings so I was not fond of the Pharoah as an institution

I think this was basically my feelings too? I don't remember for sure. Though I mean, Asterix went to Egypt sometimes. I even had an animated adaptation of one of those times on VHS that I was pretty into.

Yeah that's the one. I think that's the only animated one I ever saw, I mostly read the comics. (Though I don't think I actually had that book, but I think I had another one with Cleopatra in it.)
