Odradek names as many of the disciples of Jesus as he can without looking it up

James
Peter
Simon the Zealot
Judas
Thomas
I think there's another Judas in there, it was a common name
Bartholomew
Maybe another James? Lol I dunno

That's all the ones I can think of

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Timon, Martha, Bartholomew, Simon the Leper, Mary Magdalene, Suzanne, Nicodemus, Zebedee, the other Paul and the other Simon are all that immediately come to mind. Which I guess is more than most people can name? There was also one with a Greek name starting with D that escapes me. Oh, and there's at least one Thomas, and a Timothy as well.

And yes, all of those are real.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I can name a little more than half of the apostles as well: Paul, Peter, Matthew, Luke, James, the Johns, the other Judas (a.k.a. Jude the Obscure), the Judas everyone remembers, and... after that I start blanking.

I think Lazarus counts as a disciple as well?
  • My dreams exceed my real life
I am reminded of how, in A Canticle for Leibowitz, Lazarus lived for thousands of years and wandered the earth, but never actually bothered to convert to Christianity.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
    That's clever.

Speaking of New Testament parables and tales, the Samaritans are a really interesting sect and I want to learn more about them.
  • My dreams exceed my real life
It's so weird to me that they still exist

I believe Odradek was referring to the Twelve Apostles specifically.

and Greek D might be Demetrius, just as a guess.

And that asshole Israeli settlers made them move to the other side of their mountain. On which they have lived for thousands of years.

    *low nasty growl*
  • also Nicodemus is an interesting historical figure for a number of reasons, and was the attributed writer of one of the early disputed gospels.

Yes! Also there was another but again, blanking.

Yup! That's why I know him.
